#5 Vertonghen on his future

Jan Vertonghen’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is in the balance right now as the Belgian is yet to agree on a deal with the Lilywhites. However, according to the player himself, he might end up staying for a while with the North London club.

According to Vertonghen, the Londoners have an option to extend his contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2020. The Belgian also added that he believes he has got 4-5 years of top-level football left in him.

“I’ve got a contract until 2020 — there’s an option and Tottenham will take that option,” he said.

“So I’ve got a year and a half left and then we’ll see. The way I feel now, I’ve got at least four to five good years left in the tank.”

Vertonghen then revealed that there are no ongoing talks between him and the London club. He did, however, mention that playing for Spurs makes him feel “great”.

“There are no talks [with the club], but that’s something to discuss. At the moment I feel great at Tottenham. It’s a club with unbelievable potential — not just the players but everything around it. Everyone wants to be part of it.”

When asked about whether he would move back to Ajax someday, he revealed that he would be open to such a move because of the city of Amsterdam, which is where he is likely to settle down after hanging up his boots.

“You never know, but I’ve got a great passion for Ajax,” he said. “I’d probably live in Amsterdam [when I retire]. I can see myself in Belgium a day or two a week with family — it’s only an hour and half drive.

“My missus is from there. I love the open environment, people being open-minded. I lived there for nine years, it’s a nice city. It has a good quality of life and diversity.”

#4 Pellegrini on Yaya Toure

Manuel Pellegrini has spoken of the possibility of West Ham signing Yaya Toure. The former Manchester City manager worked with the Ivorian during their time at the Etihad and has revealed that he has spoken to him.

Pellegrini believes that Toure is a great player and gives it his all on the pitch.

“I spoke with Yaya at the beginning of the season. Yaya is a great player, a top player that plays in every part of the role,” Pellegrini said.

However, he refused to add further information, stating that he is focused more on the next game and will talk about transfers only after the final weeks of December. He also added that midfield is a position they have a lot of players in, which is why it is not a priority.

“I don’t know what happened with him in Greece. But in this moment we are just thinking about the next game that we are going to play and I don’t want to talk until the end of December about the window and which players that we need.

“At this moment, I cannot answer your question. It’s not a priority as in that position we already have players.”

#3 Warnock wants Clyne

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has admitted his interest in signing Nathaniel Clyne from Liverpool. The Liverpool full-back hasn’t been able to play a single minute in the league so far this season as Trent Alexander-Arnold has blocked his route towards the first-team.

As a result, there is interest in Clyne from Neil Warnock. He is, however, skeptical about it since Liverpool face a lot of injury problems, which is why they might find it necessary to keep him.

“The thing about that is they’ve [Liverpool] had a lot of injuries, they are in European competition, the league and they’ve got to look after themselves. So at the moment, it’s very difficult to get anybody to commit to letting us have one for definite – 100 per cent,” Warnock said.

Warnock then admitted that Clyne is indeed on his radar.

“He’d be one on our list definitely yes, we’re looking for that position but at the moment they have other problems.”

Former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he currently finds his role with the Blues quite difficult. The former Arsenal midfielder has made only four appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

And while Fabregas is aware of his bit-part role with the Londoners, he is not quite happy with it and is finding it difficult to be satisfied with the number of minutes he has played so far this season.

"I know what my role is. Unfortunately, it's not the one I want,” he said.

"It's a difficult situation for me, obviously. I'm playing the cups and the Europa League.”

He, however, affirmed that despite being comfortable with his role, he will still be giving it his best whenever he is on the pitch.

"I'm not someone who you'll see complaining or not giving his all because of that. I'll always be there showing my face when needed."

#1 Klopp and Mbappe

In high demand

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up about his stance on the January transfer window. The German has stated that it is unlikely that the Reds would consider signing anyone.

The Merseyside outfit are currently being hit by injuries but even then, it is unlikely that the former Dortmund manager would sign anyone to strengthen the defense.

“Our situation is like this: if you would have asked me two weeks before if we were doing anything in the transfer window I would have said 'Probably not',” he said.

“Now we have two centre-halves left. Will we do something? Not really likely because they are not out for (long).”

The want for Mbappe is real as Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona are willing to spend €250 million to sign the Real Madrid target, according to Don Balon.
