Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1: All Ice Machine locations

Ice Machines were added to Fortnite at the start of Chapter 2. Rather than taking on the hassle of fishing, players can obtain different types of fish by opening an Ice Machine. However, the type of fish that can be obtained from them is very limited.

Nevertheless, when in need of some fish and without a Fishing Rod in sight, Ice Machines can be life savers. Here's where to find them on the island in Chapter 4 Season 1.

With Grassland/Medieval biomes making up roughly 3/4 of the island, it's only natural that a lot of Ice Machines can be found in these regions of the map. Despite there being plenty of major POIs and landmarks present, most Ice Machines are located in offbeat locations:

  • West of Shore Shack
  • Unnamed pond west of Meadow Mansion
  • West of Rowdy Acres
  • Frenzy Fields
  • Hitches and Ditches
  • Anvil Square
  • Faulty Splits
  • Far west of Lute Lake
  • North of Beachy Bluffs
  • Slap 'N Go
  • Slappy Shores

There are a total of 15 Ice Machines found in these biomes. For those looking to open a few, the best place would be Slappy Shores. Three can be found within the confines of the area — two in the northern section of the POI and one in the south. That said, securing the area during the early game may prove to be challenging at times.

A total of nine Ice Machines are located in the Snow/Ice biome. With everything frozen over, the need for these contraptions is very low.

Nevertheless, for those who enjoy the freezing cold and call these lands their home, they will never be too far away from an Ice Machine at any given time:

  • The Hall of Whispers
  • Brutal Bastion
  • Lonely Labs
  • Aegis Temple
  • Crude Harbor
  • Beep 'N Bounce

When looking for an Ice Machine in the Snow/Ice biome, Brutal Bastion is the best location to find them. A total of three can be found within the confines of this medieval stronghold. However, given how aggressive things can get during the early game, Crude Harbor and Beep 'N Bounce are better alternatives.

Is it worth opening/searching for Ice Machines in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

Well, it all depends on the situation at hand. For instance, one of the week 10 challenges requires players to 'search' for a total of 10 Ice Machines and/or Coolers. In all probability, this is the only time that anyone will actively search out for the former in-game.

However, with fishing taking a back seat, in general, this season, the need and/or want to fish is relatively low for most players. It's easier to open an Ice Machine to find fish for challenges/quests if needed.

On that note, while Ice Machines do provide consumable fish, they aren't the best source of healing and offer little to no utility. The only reason to open them is mostly to gain some amount of experience points. Other than that, they aren't very useful for the time being.
