Fortnite players demand the return of John Wick skin amidst film's release

Fortnite collaborations have been on the rise ever since Epic Games started incorporating pop culture icons into the game's metaverse. Players have noticed the developer's excellent rip-offs of popular characters from other media appearing as cosmetics in the game since the first chapter launched.

Sales of these skins, however, have surged since Epic began licensing these characters, now a million dollar industry. Film collaborations have been the most successful of these, bringing familiar faces from franchises like Star Wars, Alien, and Terminator into the loop.

John Wick, though, is a fan-favorite and has a natural connection to the violence experienced by loopers on the island. In conjunction with the release of John Wick: Chapter 3, the Fortnite skin of the character played by Keanu Reeves in the movies, was released in Chapter 1 Season 9 of the game.

While the cosmetic skin hasn't been available in over 700 days, players are demanding its return to the Item Shop now that the fourth sequel of the blockbuster film franchise has been released.

After the release of John Wick: Chapter 3, Epic introduced the John Wick skin to the game. Until then, the loopers referred to The Reaper skin as the OG John Wick since it is so obviously based on the movie character.

In addition to John Wick, the character of Sofia, played by Halle Berry, was added to Fortnite as a cosmetic skin, and a new mode called Wick's Bounty was implemented, which rewarded players for completing related quests.

Dear @FortniteGame !

Please bring back the John Wick skin to the game.

Thanks.

Sincerelly,
Everyone.

To add to the excitement and celebrate the collaboration, two new weapons, the Tactical AR and the Combat Shotgun, were introduced. Now that both the game and the film series have reached their fourth chapters, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite cosmetic skin that will allow them to hunt their enemies in style across Mega City.

Although there are theories in the player community, Epic has made no official announcement on the cosmetic set's availability. Here's the cost of every single cosmetic in the John Wick bundle:

  • John Wick Outfit and Assassin Pack Back Bling - 2000 V-Bucks
  • Simple Sledge Harvesting Tool - 500 V-Bucks
  • Be Seeing You Emote - 200 V-Bucks
  • Bulletproof Emote - 200 V-Bucks
  • Assassin Weapon Wrap - 300 V-Bucks

However, the cosmetic set doesn't feature a discounted price as the outfit itself is of Legendary rarity.

Where's John Wick!?! Bringing him back this weekend seemed like a no brainer and license to print money. #PS5Share, #Fortnite

Even now, many can't believe Epic missed out on a chance to boost Item Shop sales when it didn't bring back the titular character in conjunction with the film's premiere. Audiences have praised the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, calling it the finest installment in the series.

"John Wick 4 just released, so he'll definitely finally return to the item shop after 2 years!"

Yesterday and today, gamers were anticipating John Wick to show up in the Item Store, but instead, Epic released the Aliens bundle, bringing back Ellen Ripley and Xenomorph.

@ShiinaBR I don’t care about John Wick not coming back (probably not until the next update) because I’m playing matches as him since it’s a lot of fun playing as the skin while pretending I’m in the film, although I do want Fortnite to add Caine/Akira from the movie in the next update

But, some gamers who currently have the skin wish to see Caine and Akira, characters from the most recent film in the series, included as playable skins as well. Japanese singer Rina Sawayama (Akira) and Chinese action hero Donnie Yen (Caine) portrayed their respective personas.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is now running in cinemas worldwide, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 95%, the highest in the franchise among other installments.
