US Open, formally known as the United States Open Tennis Championships, an international tennis tournament chronologically considered as the fourth and the final grand slam of the year. 


The grand event is followed by the Australian open , the French open and the most prestigious Wimbledon. The tournament comes under the list of one of the oldest tennis tournaments and has been played since 1881 only with Men.The tournament was earlier known as the U.S. National Championship for Men. Presently the tournament is embodied with five primary categories - men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. It also features wheelchair, senior, and junior events.The US Open is the only Grand Slam competition that has been held perpetually since it commenced.


Venues and Dates 


The tournament is owned and organised by the United State Tennis Association (USTA). The tournament is held at The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, a stadium complex within Flushing Meadows– Corona Park in Queens, New York City, United States every year. The home of the US championship tournament has 22 courts. The main court is the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which was named after the designation victor at the inaugural 1968 US Open Championships, the first in which professionals could compete.


The very earlier tournaments were played on grass surface followed by the clay and now currently played on the acrylic hardcourts. The famous Arthur Ashe stadium has a seating capacity of 23,771 and tops in the list of most astronomically immense tennis venues by capacity in the world. It is followed by Louis Armstrong Stadium with 14,000 seats , the 8,000-seat Grandstand Stadium , and other smaller side courts.The event takes place on the last Monday of August and stretches for two weeks . It is scheduled to start on 29 August, 2022, and end on 11 september, 2022, this year.

Prize Money 


Generally the US open is the most well paying of all other grand slams for its winners. The prize money for 2022 is yet unrevealed and will be updated very soon.  


Defending Champions


Daniel Medvedev won over Novak Djokovic to grasp the Men’s title. Djokovic however won the Wimbledon 2021 title and lost with a score of 6–4, 6–4, 6–4. Medvedev becomes the third Russian to win a major title and his first major denomination after being vanquished by Rafael Nadal a couple of years ago at the same court. Emma Raducanu became the first British to win a first grand slam single’s designation in history.
