As we are headed towards Fastlane, multiple storylines will find their direction in the course of next two weeks. However, there are few matches that have been built for the past few months with an intention to be brought to end only at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
After Shane McMahon replaced The Miz at 'The Best In The World' Tournament and won the trophy, The Miz wanted to join forces with McMahon to form 'The Greatest Tag Team In The World'. After a lot of hesitation, McMahon obliged and they beat The Bar for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at The Royal Rumble. But they soon lost the titles to The Usos in their very first defense at The Elimination Chamber. They get their rematch and one more chance to become Tag Team Champions at Fastlane.
Kofi Kingston replaced Mustafa Ali in the Elimination Chamber and match and grabbed that opportunity with both hands. Kingston has wowed the WWE Universe with his performances in recent weeks. He lasted for over an hour in the Gauntlet Match and eliminated the likes of Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe before he was eliminated by AJ Styles. At the Elimination Chamber PPV, Kingston was a whisker away from pinning Bryan for the WWE Title. the following night at SmackDown, Shane McMahon announced that Kingston would take on Bryan at Fastlane for the WWE Title. On the very next week, before Kingston and Bryan could sign the contract, Mr. McMahon came out and announced that Kevin Owens will replace Kofi Kingston in the match.
After Asuka beat Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble to retain the SmackDown Live Women's Title, she made her way to the ring to face her next challenger. Mandy Rose answered Asuka's challenge and beat her in a non-title match. Later, WWE announced that Mandy Rose will face Asuka for the SmackDown Live Women's Title.
