Rohit Sharma:  I don't think it was too many runs. The wicket was a little challenging towards the second half but I didn't think we batted well. When you want to win games like this, partnerships are crucial and it's something that we failed to do today. (Poor shots on dismissals or good balls?) A bit of both, actually. You are born here and brought up to play on these wickets. Sometimes it will be challenging but you apply yourself to give yourself and your team a chance. It was important for one of the batters to take it deep but we didn't make to do that. (Positive takeaways?) A lot of takeaways. I'm not going to look at these three games. From the 9 ODIs we've played from the start of the year, we can take a lot from that. We can take a lot from this loss as well. We don't point fingers, that's not what this team does. We have to understand that we'll be playing in these conditions for a few months. Having said that, you have to give Australia credit. Their spinners and the pacers kept things tight. So, credit where it is due.

22:38 (IST)22 MAR 2023

Steve Smith: It's been an enjoyable tour. The way we fought back after the Test match was great. We haven't played at our best in the ODI series but we got over the line. It's the playing conditions for us. It's all about summing them up and playing accordingly. I felt like we left a few runs out there, to be honest. However, the spinners bowled beautifully. Turning point, I'm not sure what that was. It was a big grind in the field throughout and we did that nicely. In terms of our batting, the way the tail stuck around to get us to 270 was great. At one point, we didn't think we were getting past 220. It was a good win for us in the end.

22:37 (IST)22 MAR 2023

Mitchell Marsh (POTS): It’s natural aggression when I am batting. Playing in Waca has helped me a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed the series. We knew this is the start of our World Cup preparation and happy to come out on a winning note. I think I was very clear. Coming off an extended break, wanted to work on a lot of things. Came here really fresh and hopefully, I can get to Delhi and have fun with the boys out there.

22:36 (IST)22 MAR 2023

Adam Zampa (POTM): Yeah I mean I have had some success here. A tough place to come, always a huge challenge. Always pumped for India and I got some rewards today. We did well enough today, when the run rate got up, Ashton Agar turned the game on its head. The guys who bowled before me were quite brilliant. We have trust in each other, trust in our process and trust in our game plan. The message was to trust our process and game plan after the loss in the first ODI.

22:28 (IST)22 MAR 2023

Ashton Agar: It was nice. Lovely to finish the series on a high like that. It's a tough place to come and play and to win. So, we're delighted. It was a nice way to start. There was obviously plenty in the pitch for me and as soon as the first ball did that, the indications were clear for me. Mitch (Marsh) came off and said 250 would be a good total out there. He said it was starting to get a bit slow and it should turn. They did a great job up top and so did the Indian openers. But as we saw, it got tougher out there. It's always fun bowling with Zampa. We're great mates and it's always fun. Usually having whiskey in his room to discuss some plans to see how we got about it.

22:26 (IST)22 MAR 2023

The tone of the match was similar in both the innings. The openers gave a flying start and departed after the powerplay. Wickets fell in bulk and the scoring rate slowed down by the end of the innings.

The only difference between the two sides was Australia's lower order made 60 runs from the last nine overs despite losing seven wickets. India could manage just 44 runs in tgeir last nine overs even though they were 6 down and had their two outstanding all-rounders at the crease.

Adam Zampa was the player to turn things as he got the important wickets of Hardik and Jadeja. Ashton Agar also played a key role in dismissing the well setted batter Virat Kohli on 54.

The momentum of the game changed when Zampa broke the 69-run partnership between Rahul and Kohli. The hosts by then looked composed and unperturbed.

Australia lost in Mumbai but made convincing wins in Visakhapatnam and Chennai to make it a remarkable come-from behind wins to clinch the three-match series 2-1.

Hardik Pandya departs in crunch situation
Wicket!!! The plan of bringing in Adam Zampa has worked for Australia. Hardik was in the mood to charge against the leg-spinner and that got evident on the first ball. The fourth delivery of the over ended Pandya's innings. Went for the slog but was not successful in finding the distance with Steve Smith taking the catch with ease. A wicket that is likely to make the difference.

Hardik Pandya 40 (40 balls; 3 fours and one six) c Steve Smith b Adam Zampa

India's approach at the moment
Two experienced players here ensure that they take the chase step by step. KL Rahul just proving a point what he means to the middle order in this format.
