Sean O'Malley tells Joe Rogan why he's still 'mentally' undefeated despite Marlon 'Chito' Vera loss

Sean O'Malley is currently ranked No.1 in the UFC bantamweight division. 'Sugar' has been able to dominate almost every single opponent he has faced in his career and has a record of 16-1-1(NC).

Despite a blemish on his record, Sean O'Malley will still refer to himself as undefeated if you are to ask him. His only loss came at the hands of Marlon Vera at UFC 252 in August 2020. But the nature of O'Malley's defeat has allowed him to maintain an 'undefeated mindset'.

'Sugar' was kicked in the peroneal nerve, which runs down the side of the calf. The kick landed by 'Chito' did enough damage that O'Malley's whole foot went numb.

O'Malley recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, where the pair discussed why the bantamweight star doesn't view his defeat to 'Chito' as a loss.

O'Malley said:

"It was a kick he threw and I pulled out... His big toe literally pushed a button, my peroneal nerve... and my foot just fell asleep... I blitzed forward, went to step back on my foot and it wasn't there. He got on top and elbowed me. It's a loss on the record... but I didn't lose 'cause his skills were better than me. I do not believe that."

Sean O'Malley thinks Khamzat Chimaev could beat Alex Pereira right now

Alex Pereira is the new king of the middleweight division after his TKO victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. The Brazilian was immediately called out by Khamzat Chimaev to fight in Brazil early next year.

Chimaev is currently in pursuit of the UFC welterweight title but has also competed in the UFC multiple times at 185lbs.

Sean O'Malley recently weighed in on the outcome of a possible fight between Chimaev and Pereira, and stated that 'Borz' would most likely be victorious. 'Sugar' said the following on a recent episode of The BrOMalley Show:

"Khamzat could f**k Alex up... That left hand is nasty but if I had to put money on a fight between Alex and Khamzat, I'd put it on Khamzat... [He] might grab a hold of that motherf***er... Khamzat can grapple big scary guys like that."
