"There's a new superstar in town" – Cage Warriors champion Paul Hughes calls on Dana White for UFC contract

UFC president Dana White is constantly on the hunt for new talent. He also presides over proceedings at Dana White's Contender Series for the same. However, recently White received an open call-out from an established champion, let alone a contender.

Newly-crowned Cage Warriors featherweight champion Paul Hughes spoke to Submission Radio after his third straight win and title unification success. Hughes presented his case to be signed on to the world's premier MMA promotion and proclaimed himself the biggest prospect:

"Look, Dana, pick up that phone for f**k's sake. I am the biggest prospect unsigned to the UFC in the entire world. In my eyes, I'm 10 and 0 right now. I have avenged my only loss. I have taken out the best guys in Europe. Fought in the best division in all of Europe which is the featherweight [division] in Cage Warriors and I've took everybody out in spectacular fashion."

Hughes mentioned avenging his only professional loss to Jordan Vucenic in the title unification bout at CW 145. He also urged White to consider the commerical impact his presence could make for the UFC:

"I have literally a whole nation behind me. As you've seen, I'm not even signed to the UFC yet, I'm selling out venues in London. I've got people, hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds traveling over to support [me]. Could you just imagine what that's gonna be like in Vegas, [and] New York? As I said in my post-fight interview, there's a new superstar in town and his name is Paul Hughes."

Joe Rogan is not on board with Dana White's Power Slap league

Dana White's latest foray into the world of combat sports came in the form of a new league, Power Slap. Comedian and popular MMA entity Joe Rogan gave his take on the new venture on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

Rogan spoke to Sean O'Malley on a recent episode and stated that although he will follow and view Power Slap, he admitted to not being drawn to it:

“I love Dana, and I would be a hypocrite if I said I wouldn’t watch this, because I will watch it – but this is not my cup of tea. What I like is problem solving. I like puzzles. What I like is (Sean O’Malley) and (Petr) Yan. This f*cking Russian assassin is rushing the gates and you’re kicking and moving away and jabbing at him. That’s what I like. I love technique.” [h/t MMA Junkie]
