Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 274: Oliveira v Gaethje

Why did Ovince Saint Preux's UFC 282 opponent get released by the UFC?

Ovince Saint Preux has had no luck when trying to book an opponent at UFC 282 this weekend. Saint Preux was meant to fight either Alexander Gustafsson, Philipe Lins or Antonio Trocoli in Las Vegas, but all of these opponents have pulled out.

Trocoli was looking forward to a UFC debut this weekend, but has instead seen his contract with the organization voided. It seems the MMA organization ran out of patience with the Brazilian. Trocoli failed a drug test after earning his UFC deal during Dana White's Contender Series: Brazil. After withdrawing from this latest bout, saw his contract voided.

It's a shame that Saint Preux had so many issues when booking an opponent for UFC 282, with the veteran fighter looking to build on his impressive victory at UFC 274.

'OSP' managed to edge a split decision against Mauricio Rua at UFC 274 after three rounds of fighting. 'Shogun' is now on a two-fight losing streak in the organization, suffering back-to-back losses against Paul Craig and Saint Preux.

As mentioned, 'OSP' managed to beat fellow veteran Mauricio Rua in his latest outing. But during his last 10 fights in the UFC, Saint Preux has only won 4 bouts, losing six.

The 39-year-old has managed to beat the likes of Tyson Pedro, Michal Oleksiejczuk, Alonzo Menifield and Rua. Most of Saint Preux's losses have come against high-level opponents, with Dominick Reyes and Nikita Krylov the standout names.

Watch 'OSP' speak after his UFC 197 bout against Jon Jones here:

Ovince Saint Preux has a UFC record of 14 wins and 11 losses since debuting in 2013. The 39-year-old is a well-respected fighter in the organization and has fought some of the biggest names in the MMA world, taking on the likes of Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira and Corey Anderson.
