Commanders new owners: Top 3 candidates to take over from Dan Snyder in 2023

Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder is known to have put the team up for sale after 24 years at the helm.

Snyder's time as Commanders' owner has been tumultuous to say the least, as he and the team have been in hot water constantly both in the media and within the NFL. He has been accused of creating a toxic and sexist workplace, as well as Washington generally being dysfunctional during his tenure.

Many big names in business have been touted to take over the Commanders once Snyder steps aside.

#1, Jeff Bezos

The Amazon founder and one of the richest men in the world, Jeff Bezos, has been linked with the open position of owner of the Washington Commanders.

Bezos has a net worth of $122 billion and as of last month is the third-richest person in the world. Bezos would have virtually unlimited funds should he take over in Washington, something that could make them a more desirable destination for the NFL's best players in the future.

#2, Todd Boehly

Another American businessman linked to the Commanders owner's post is Todd Boehly. He made his money as a founding member of holdings company Eldridge Industries, based in Connecticut.

He recently acquired a majority stake in English Premier League club Chelsea, and since becoming chairman, Chelsea has been one of the highest-spending teams in the sport.

Commanders fans will hope that Boehly will be willing to splash the cash in the same manner in Washington.

Liverpool FC owner John Henry has also been touted to take over from Dan Snyder as owner of the Washington Commanders.

Henry has been chairman of Liverpool since 2010 and has overseen one of the club's most successful periods since the 1980s.

Henry had an estimated net worth of $3.6 billion as of November 2021 according to Forbes, and is also the owner of baseball team Boston Red Sox.

Henry and his Fenway Sports Group have plenty of history of owning sports franchises, so this move could make the most sense for all parties.
