Brandin Cooks makes his opinion about Jerry Jones clear upon Cowboys trade

New Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks is happy with what transpired on Sunday. After coming close to securing a move last offseason, Cooks is now a Cowboy and has glowing words to say about the team's owner Jerry Jones.

With Dallas in the market for a star receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb, Cooks' name is one that didn't really come up during free agency. Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins were thought to be the duo Dallas was focusing on.

However, Dallas went with Cooks and the receiver is thankful for finally being able to wear that star on his helmet.

"Man, honestly, I just feel blessed for this opportunity to contribute to something that's already special," Cooks said, via Aaron Wilson of KCPR2 Houston. "For the Jones family to believe in me, I look forward to joining something special and I bring that mindset everywhere I go."

Lamb, Michael Gallup and Cooks will be the trio tasked with catching passes from Dak Prescott next season.

The Cowboys made it known that they wanted to pay a similar price to what the Cleveland Browns did for Amari Cooper when acquiring a wide receiver. The price was two fifth-round picks and a sixth-round pick, and that's approximately what Dallas got.

In exchange for Cooks, Dallas only parted with a fifth-round pick (2023) and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Brandin Cooks will now look forward to linking up with his other offensive teammates as they look to get over that hump of making it to an NFC Championship game.

The 29-year-old brings experience and explosiveness to the Dallas offense, along with the ability to rack up 1,000+ yards receiving. In his nine-year career, Cooks has six 1,000+ receiving yard seasons and two of those were in Houston with a revolving door at the quarterback position.

Now in a new environment, Brandin Cooks will hope to be the weapon we all know he can be. He won't be traveling too far either and now that he is with the most recognizable sporting organization in the world, his name will be up in lights.

And he has Jerry Jones to thank for that.
