Cooper Kupp's tweet about former teammate Bobby Wagner is coming back to haunt him

Bobby Wagner spent the first ten years of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks. He is a legend of the franchise, serving as a team captain for the infamous Legion of Boom defense that helped bring a Super Bowl ring to Seattle.

He also helped the Seahawks win two Conference titles, while being selected to nine consecutive All-Pro teams. Wagner is clearly one of the best linebackers in the entire NFL with a ton of individual accomplishments.

He had his sights set on winning another Super Bowl when he was released by the Seahawks following the 2021 NFL season. He believed his best path to do so was by joining the Los Angeles Rams, the defending champions from the season before.

The only catch with Bobby Wagner's decision is that the Rams and Seahawks are bitter divisional rivals in the NFC West. One player who was excited about the move was Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. He saw an advantage in his team signing the All-Pro linebacker.

Here's what Kupp tweeted out in 2022 when he heard the news of Wagner joining the Rams:

Cooper Kupp acknowledged his excitement at not having to face off against Bobby Wagner during the 2022 NFL season. As divisional opponents, the Seahawks and Rams play against each other twice every season, with each team hosting once. As they had become teammates, they would battle alongside each other, rather than as enemies.

Wagner lasted just one season in Los Angeles before once again becoming a free agent during the 2023 NFL offseason. Many teams expressed interest in signing him, but he ultimately decided to return to Seattle and rejoin the Seahawks. Kupp was one of the first players to take note of the move once again.

While Wagner may have made Kupp eat his words, at least the wide receiver had a good sense of humor about it. The two will once again face off twice during the 2023 NFL season.

Cooper Kupp's Rams have gotten the better of Bobby Wagner's Seahawks

Cooper Kupp has spent six years with the Los Angeles Rams so far. Bobby Wagner played for the Seattle Seahawks for five of those seasons, excluding the 2022 campaign when they were teammates. Kupp's Rams hold a significant head-to-head edge against Wagner's Seahawks in the five-year span.

The two sides met 11 times during the stretch, with the Rams compiling a dominant 8-3 record. The most important matchup came in the NFL Playoffs following the 2020 NFL season, with the Rams earning a 30-20 victory.
