Jalen Mills contract: How much will the star CB earn upon Patriots return?

Yesterday, the New England Patriots released cornerback Jalen Mills. A day later, on March 22, 2023, he re-signed with the team on a revised deal.

Mills joined the Patriots in 2021 and signed a four-year $24 million deal. They used him as a cornerback and safety in 2021 and 2022 and then released him, leaving him with $1.25 million in deap cap space.

In 2020 w/the #Eagles, Mills had 74 tackles, 4 TFLs, 1.5 sacks and 1 INT at FS.

As part of his return to the Patriots this season, Mills will convert back to his natural position at safety after playing a little bit of cornerback the last two seasons.

Free-agent CB Jalen Mills is staying with the Patriots on a revised one-year deal worth up to $6.1 million, per source. The deal was negotiated and confirmed by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

He made $11.4 million out of the $24 million deal he signed with the Patriots in 2021 and with the $6.1 million he's set to earn this season, he will have earned $17.5 million in the last three seasons with the Pats.

In total, Mills has made $19.5 million in his NFL career thus far in seven seasons.

The New England Patriots off-season additions

The New England Patriots have been busy this off-season. They've added many talented players including Super Bowl winning wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, running back James Robinson, and tight end Mike Gesicki.

Smith-Schuster was the leading wide receiver last season for the Chiefs with over 900 yards. His chances of becoming the new WR1 in New England will certainly help Mac Jones out in the passing game.

Robinson will replace Damien Harris, who signed with the Bills in free agency as the RB2 in New England. Robinson had a 1,000 yard rushing season two years ago during his rookie season. Gesicki will replace tight end Jonnu Smith after the team traded him to the Atlanta Falcons.

Other free agents the Patriots have added this off-season include linebacker Chris Board and offensive tackles Reily Reiff and Calvin Anderson.

They've re-signed players such as cornerback Jonathan Jones, safety Jabrill Peppers, special-teamer Matt Slater, linebacker Raekwon McMillan, and many other rotational players.
