Jason Whitlock claims Mina Kimes is 'nailing herself to a cross' over use of ethnic slur

During an episode of WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show", a racial slur against Mina Kimes was made. And now, it has everyone in broadcast news talking about it.

The co-hosts of the show, Greg Hill, Jermaine Wiggins and Courtney Cox were talking about the fact that the city of Boston was aiming to ban 'nips', which is what Bostonians call small bottles of liquor.

The term can also be seen as a racial slur towards those of Japanese descent. While, the co-hosts were talking about which small liquor was their favorite, the show's producer, Chris Curtis, said that Mina Kimes was his favorite. She is actually a Korean-American so the term, while used inappropriately, was also incorrect as well.

Sports columnist Jason Whitlock took to Twitter and voiced his opinion on the matter. Whitlock said that he wasn't even aware that the term was a racial slur and was sure that many people felt the same way. He then said that there was no damage done by Curtis and that it won't affect her in any way.

"Raise your hand if you knew "Nip" was an ethnic slur? I did not. Tell me how Mina Kimes' life was impacted by this? Other than nailing herself to a cross, I don't see the damage. She will dance to rap music calling black people N-words repeatedly without uttering a complaint.

He then suggested that Mina Kimes would likely continue to sing rap songs with racial slurs on them in the future. Making a suggestion that the ESPN analyst will only care about the slur if it affects her.

How did ESPN analyst Mina Kimes respond to the use of a racial slur aimed her way earlier this week? In a fashion, that only she could.

The Boston Globe's Chad Finn tweeted that he was working on a story regarding the matter. Finn said that the station was claiming that he meant to say actress Mila Kunis, and not the ESPN analyst. Mila Kunis has done commercials for Jim Beam whiskey in the past.

So, the Yale grad went to her Twitter account and changed her profile picture to one of the Kunis instead.

While the ESPN analyst took it all in stride, Chris Curtis apologized on Thursday morning for his comments. He also said at the time that he was suspended for his actions.
