New York Jets free agent signings 2023: Have Jets done enough to put a roster around Aaron Rodgers?

The New York Jets had all the tools needed last season to make the playoffs, as the team was adequately stacked from top to bottom.

Moreover, their general manager nailed his draft picks, selecting both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year for 2022. However, the New York Jets' kryptonite was none other than their 2021 NFL draft second-overall pick, Zach Wilson.

Wilson was all shades of mid for his second season in the NFL and was outplayed by every QB in the league not named Russell Wilson. As such, the Jets' front office has seemingly seen enough and gone on the offensive to sign four-time NFL MVP Award winner Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

However, have the Jets done enough to put a roster around Rodgers? Keep reading to find out.

Have New York Jets done enough to put a roster around Aaron Rodgers?

Yes, the New York Jets have seemingly done enough to put a super competitive roster around Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers is as solid as they come regarding accurate QBs, and that's just what the Jets' receiving corps needs. The Jets didn't spare any expenses in giving Rodgers his ideal targets, signing his longtime running mate, Allen Lazard, on a four-year $44 million deal. Lazard will be paired in offense by reigning offensive rookie of the year, Garrett Wilson, and last year's WR2, Elijah Moore.

Another thing Rodgers lacked in Green Bay last year was protection, as he played behind a banged-up offensive line all season. The Jets addressed that by signing former Baltimore Ravens favorite Trystan Colon on a multi-year deal.

Colon will join the likes of Adam Pankey, Duane Brown, Chris Glaser, Max Mitchell, Eric Smith and other solid offensive stoppers. This O-line is way more potent than the Packers, and Rodgers should get more time to work his magic than ever before. It's just a matter of when not he will sign the dotted line to join the Jets.

It has been widely speculated that what's stalling the deal is trade compensations in exchange for a four-time league MVP. The Packers don't want Rodgers on their team anymore, but that won't stop them from milking the New York Jets for as much draft compensation as humanly possible. For now, the Packers are not budging, and we might be in for a very long postseason.
