“That’s the only deadline” – NFL insider drops update on Aaron Rodgers’ Jets trade

Aaron Rodgers is expected to be a Jet this off-season, the only question is when that will happen.

Last week, Rodgers joined the Pat McAfee Show and revealed that he intends on playing for the New York Jets in 2023. He also said that the only reason why a trade hasn't been official yet is because the Packers and Jets are still discussing compensation for Rodgers.

While a trade is yet to be made official, it's slowing down both the Packers and Jets' off-season plans as both teams need to settle their cap situation following the trade.

While that can't be settled until a trade happens, most people around the league expect the trade to happen during the draft. One of those people that believes that is NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport joined Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show and thinks a trade will happen during draft time.

"It's actually the Jets and Packers now negotiating and figuring this out, deadlines are always what draws these things. There's a real possibility this rolls right up until the draft because that's the only real deadline. It's about the 2023 draft picks and when you have to actually use them is the deadline."

The exact compensation of what the Packers are looking for in return for Rodgers is unknown. Some suggest that the Packers want at least a first-round pick plus more picks.

And there it is ... Aaron Rodgers says he wants to play for the Jets, but the Packers are "digging their heels in" when it comes to compensation.

Others suggest that the Packers won't even get a first-round pick in return for Rodgers.

This is due to Aaron Rodgers' uncommittment to the game. The star QB has been flirting with the idea of retirement for over a year and had almost retired this off-season.

Aaron Rodgers was rumored to be traded to the New York Jets or retire for most of the off-season.

On the Pat McAfee Show on March 17, Rodgers revelaed that he was 90% sure of retiring this off-season during his darkness retreat.

"90 per cent towards retiring and 10 towards playing.”

Jets fans must have felt thankful when they heard that coming from Rodgers. The 39-year-old is expected to be their quarterback this season and a trade is expected to happen around draft time.

Rodgers will be entering his 19th season and will be in the AFC for the first time in his career.
