Who is Steve Apostolopoulos? Canadian billionaire pegged as suitor for Dan Snyder's Commanders

The Washington Commanders have a new suitor in Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that Apostolopoulos is the newest potential bidder to buy Dan Snyder's team.

The Snyder family put the team up for sale in November and is seeking around $7 billion. They recently cleared out all of their belongings from the team's headquarters in Ashburn, VA. A deal could be made official as soon as the end of the month during the league's meeting in Phoenix.

Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has become the newest potential bidder to tour the Washington Commanders’ stadium and training facility as he seeks to buy the franchise, league sources told @WindhorstESPN and me.

Apostolopoulos is the managing partner of Triple Group of Companies, a Toronto real estate firm. He is also the co-founder and chief development officer of Triple Properties and Caary, a digital credit and payments platform.

He was born in Toronto and attended Harvard University. His late father, Andreas, moved to Canada as a teenager and built a successful business empire.

Apostolopoulos recently tried to buy Michael Jordan's Charlotte Hornets, but shifted his focus to purchasing an NFL team instead.

Magic Johnson is also a potential bidder for the Washington Commanders

Talks on the sale of the Washington Commanders are heating up.

On Monday, March 20, it was reported that NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson is also in the running to buy the Commanders.

Other potential suitors to buy the team include Jeff Bezos, Josh Harris, Jay-Z, and Tilman Fertitta.

Whoever inherits the team will have the tough task of figuring out who the franchise quarterback will be for the 2023-24 season. The owner will also work with first-year offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who was hired by the team this off-season.

Will the new owner(s) of the team potentially take a chance on Lamar Jackson?
