Teddy Bridgewater's landing spots: Top 5 teams who should move quickly for ex-Dolphins QB

Last year, the Miami Dolphins signed Teddy Bridgewater to a one-year contract. He is currently a free agent. He may not be a top free-agent prospect, but a couple of quarterback-needy teams might be interested in him.

It's unclear if he'll be given a starting spot, but he might be a strong choice for a side seeking improvement at the position or even just as a seasoned backup.

Before the 2023 NFL season kicks off, here are the top five organizations that might sign him.

The #Packers #Ravens and #Lions were named the best fits for #Dolphins QB Teddy Bridgewater

#1, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers considered signing Teddy Bridgewater as their starting QB three years back. Fortunately, the Bucs were able to sign Tom Brady; consequently, they won a Super Bowl. Nevertheless, Brady is no longer there, and Bridgewater is once more available for the Buccaneers should they choose to sign him.

In his final year with the Jets in 2018, Todd Bowles managed Bridgewater. After the preseason, he was dealt to the New Orleans Saints for a third-round selection after being signed in free agency in March. There was widespread talk in the 2018 Jets camp that Bridgewater was easily their best passer, but the team decided to go with youngster Sam Darnold.

For Baker Mayfield, who was acquired earlier this month, Bridgewater could be a reliable backup.

#2, Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens need to resolve their quarterback dilemma as quickly as possible. After receiving the non-exclusive franchise tag, Lamar Jackson is still in a conundrum. Jackson is reportedly prepared to leave the team, even though no team has yet to approach him with an offer.

The fact that Tyler Huntley, the team's QB2, is still a free agent is not as prevalent as the Jackson scenario.

Teddy Bridgewater is one player who many think would suit in well with the Ravens. While Bridgewater has played at least .500 football as a starting QB for three seasons, Huntley hasn't had much success when thrown into the starting lineup. A strong backup is essential since Jackson has become somewhat of a regular injury doubt over the past two years.

#3, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers were seeking a starting QB when Ben Roethlisberger announced his retirement in 2022, but going into the 2023 season, they'll likely have to add depth to the position.

Bridgewater's exposure to six different organizations has probably given him a broad understanding of numerous defensive as well as offensive strategies, which makes his practice simpler than that of a player who has only recently joined the league.

Bridgewater has likely seen it all and can use his experience in this situation with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bridgewater is a really intriguing choice because of his tenacity, openness to adjust, and wealth of NFL experience.

#4, Green Bay Packers

We are aware that Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers time is over. But the Green Bay Packers will have to recruit a new backup quarterback now that Jordan Love will take over as the starter. When fit, Bridgewater has shown himself to be a reliable backup quarterback for youthful quarterbacks. As a precaution, having a skilled distributor behind Love is very sensible.

IF Lamar leaves these are the QB's I want this year or next year:
This Year:
Anthony Richardson
Tyler Huntley
Joe Flacco
Teddy Bridgewater
Stetson Bennett
Hendon Hooker

Next Year:
Caleb Williams
Jaxson Dart
Maybe Quinn Ewers

#5, Arizona Cardinals

It is entirely reasonable for the Arizona Cardinals to sign Bridgewater to a cheap one-year contract if they intend to bring in a competent quarterback as Kyler Murray heals from his torn ACL.

Bridgewater offers enough production for a backup QB, and the Cardinals should consider making him a top priority. When Murray is fully recovered, the squad will still be competitive with him at the quarterback position without sacrificing the team's overall effectiveness.
