Taylor Fritz sees most gains in social media following in the wake of Netflix's 'Break Point' docuseries, Nick Kyrgios registers lowest increase

Taylor Fritz and Nick Kyrgios were two of the players featured in the first part of the Netflix docuseries, 'Break Point.' Since the series was released on January 13, Fritz has seen the most gains in his social media following, while Kyrgios has seen the least.

The first part of the series comprising five episodes focused on previous years' Australian Open, Indian Wells Masters, Madrid Open and Roland Garros tournaments. Nick Kyrgios' incredible run with Thanasi Kokkinakis to win the men's doubles trophy at the Australian Open was chronicled in the first episode titled, "The Maverick."

Taylor Fritz's journey to winning his first ever Masters 1000 title at the Indian Wells Masters last year was documented in the third episode of the show, "California Dreaming." Despite both suffering from injury concerns, the American defeated Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(5) in the final to clinch the title.

Taylor Fritz's concerns about how he would be portrayed in the docuseries were unfounded given that he has emerged as the most popular player featured in the series. An analysis of the social media following of the players (undertaken by Zoomph, updated until February 3) featured in the series has revealed that Fritz gained the most followers (13.93% across Twitter and Instagram) among them across social media platforms.

Maria Sakkari (10.28% total) and Paula Badosa (9.34% total) were not far behind as they too saw a large increase in their social media followings.

Ahead of the @AustralianOpen @netflix released the first five episodes of the highly anticipated "Break Point" docuseries.

In the weeks after #BreakPoint's premiere, the nine players featured so far all grew their social media following, led by American No. 1 @Taylor_Fritz97

Nick Kyrgios, on the other hand, saw a very negligible increase (1.73% total) in his social media followers post the release of the series. The show provided an inside look into the psyche of the mercurial star at the 2022 Australian Open. It depicted his defeat in the second round of the singles tournament and his eventual triumph in the doubles category alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Felix Auger-Aliassime (3.18% total) and Ons Jabeur (3.38% total) also failed to garner any significant rise in their social media followings. Meanwhile, the second part of the series will be released in June 2023, featuring the likes of Iga Swiatek, Frances Tiafoe and others.

Taylor Fritz is the No. 1 seed at the ongoing ATP 250 Dallas Open and will face Jack Sock in the second round of the tournament.

Jack Sock defeated Ilya Ivashka in a very close first-round meeting. Lasting three hours and four minutes, Sock finally prevailed 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-4 in the contest to book his encounter with Fritz. Taylor Fritz defeated Jack Sock at the Dallas Open in the second round last year and currently leads the head-to-head 3-2.
