WWE still has not announced Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose's WrestleMania opponents

3 non-title matches that may be added to the WrestleMania 35 match card

WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year, WrestleMania, is mere 3 weeks away. This year, the MetLife Stadium of New Jersey will play the host to WWE’s grandest event.

So far, Vince McMahon's company has made 7 matches official for the event -

  1. Brock Lesnar (c) vs Seth Rollins, WWE Universal Championship
  2. Ronda Rousey (c) vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair, RAW Women's Championship match
  3. Kurt Angle's retirement match
  4. Buddy Murphy (c) vs TBA, WWE Cruiserweight Championship match
  5. Triple H vs Batista, No Holds Barred Match
  6. AJ Styles vs Randy Orton
  7. Shane McMahon vs The Miz

It is being rumored that 17 matches will feature on the match card of WrestleMania 35 and it makes sense to have these many matches as there are 10 champions on the main roster. All the champions deserve to have a WrestleMania match. Besides the championship matches, there are two Battle Royals which allow the jobbers and lower mid-card superstars to make it to the WrestleMania card.

WWE also books multiple non-title matches at WrestleMania. They have already announced 4 non-title matches for WrestleMania 35, which takes the total to 16 (10 title matches + 2 battle royals).

So, there will be one more non-title match that WWE will add and here are the top 3 candidates for that slot.

#3 The Divas of Doom vs The Samoan Slaughterhouse

The Samoan Slaughterhouse attacked Beth Phoenix and Natalya at Fastlane 2019

A majority of the WWE Universe believes that these two tag teams will challenge the Boss 'n' Hug Connection for the Women's Tag Team Championship in a triple threat match but I feel that WWE will have the IIconics fight for the belts at the Grandest Stage.

The female tag team division lacks star power, and the division is also very thin. There are not many options available with the Creative team to book amazing feuds. Thus, they brought Beth Phoenix back and shifted the Queen of Harts to the tag team division.

Vince McMahon would create a feel good moment at WrestleMania 35 where the reunited Divas of Doom will conquer the Samoan Slaughterhouse.

This match has the highest probability of making it to the WrestleMania card as WWE commenced its build on the Fastlane show.

#2 Kofi Kingston vs a top heel, if Kofi wins he will progress to the WWE Championship match

If you listened Vince's promo last week on SmackDown Live carefully, you might know why I put this match on the card

Vince McMahon is a very smart man. Last Tuesday, in the closing segment of SmackDown Live, he put Kofi Kingston in a gauntlet match where he will have to defeat all the top heels of SmackDown Live to progress to WrestleMania 35. McMahon never said that Kofi will battle for the WWE Championship at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Thus, it seems like Kofi Kingston's road to title victory will have one more obstacle at WrestleMania 35. WWE had built Daniel Bryan's WWE rise to the top with the same formula, and the Creative team could apply it once again to solidify Kingston as the biggest babyface on the blue brand.

McMahon will announce a Daniel Bryan vs Kevin Owens/ Mustafa Ali match for WrestleMania 35 and then have Kofi win his match to make it a triple threat match.

I do not know who WWE will pick to fight Kofi Kingston first; it could easily be Rowan, but it would excite the WWE Universe more if WWE has another opponent for Kofi.

#1 Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin

One last time!
Ad

Dean Ambrose has rejected WWE's offer to sign a new contract which means he will leave Vince McMahon's wrestling promotion soon. WWE have publicly acknowledged this fact and they even had a final Shield reunion at WWE Fastlane.

But, looking at the events that transpired last week on RAW it does not look like that last Sunday was the final time we saw Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose team up together. The brothers were earlier rumored to fight each other at the Grandest Stage but now, rumors have surfaced that WWE is considering Drew McIntyre as Roman Reigns' WrestleMania opponent.

In case WWE books this match, they will have to leave Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin off the match card. Also, if Roman Reigns crushes Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania, he could once again be booed by the crowd.

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre looks the safest bet as it will not anger the fans if the faces win. Apart from that, Dean Ambrose can get the perfect WrestleMania moment that he had never had in his career.
