There are several reasons why WrestleMania over two nights this year could be best for business

3 Reasons why a two-night WrestleMania is best for business and 2 reasons it isn't

WWE debuted a very different WrestleMania weekend in 2020. The company was forced to use its own Performance Center as the location for its biggest show of the year.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to cancel the Hall of Fame ceremony and host WrestleMania without fans. Plus, "The Showcase of the Immortals" was held across two nights. This was a very unique WrestleMania, as electric crowds are often highlights of the show every year.

WWE has announced its plans for WrestleMania 37, and it will also follow the two-night approach this year. But this time, live fans will be permitted at the show.

WWE has secured Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida as the location for the show this year. WrestleMania 36 was initially scheduled to be held in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' home stadium. The pandemic disrupted these plans, but WWE is giving itself a do-over this year.

While there are several positives to WWE's decision to extending its biggest show of the year, there are also a number of negatives to what appears to be a spontaneous decision from the company.

#6. Positive: WrestleMania split over two nights is much easier to watch

At one point, WrestleMania was only four hours long. But over the years, WWE's biggest show of the year has become its longest one. By splitting the show over two nights in 2020, WWE produced two shows that were roughly three hours long. Many fans appreciated the ability to enjoy wrestling in a less lengthy manner.

With the addition of WrestleMania's Kickoff show, the event's runtime has been much closer to seven hours. As a result, the experience of watching WresteMania can often feel like a marathon that leaves most fans feeling exhausted.

During WrestleMania, fans often post about their fatigue on social media, and this aspect of the weekend has become a tradition for some viewers.

But in 2021, WWE will again hold WrestleMania over two-nights. The show might be a little longer this year because the card won't be as limited as it was last time around. Still, WrestleMania is much easier to digest when it's not presented as one massive event.

WrestleMania 37 will also have the energy of a live crowd, so the show should truly feel like "The Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment." WWE could also decide to recycle last year's tagline. In 2021, WrestleMania will still be "too big for just one night." At this point, it seems like most fans are quite happy with this decision.

#4. Negative: International fans might not be able to watch WrestleMania 37 live

A four-day WrestleMania weekend for American fans is a fantastic way to celebrate their fandom. But many fans around the world don't have this luxury.

In previous years, some fans have skipped the NXT Takeover show or the Hall of Fame Ceremony. In doing so, these viewers are preparing for WrestleMania because they'll have to watch the show at a challenging time of the day.

In the United States, WrestleMania airs at 7 p.m. ET, and it ends at around 11 p.m. But in places like the United Kingdom, the show will air at midnight, and it won't conclude until 4 a.m. Two-night WrestleManias are daunting for these fans because the shows disrupt two consecutive nights of sleep.

It's also important to note that many fans have to work the day after WrestleMania. So many members of the WWE Universe won't be able to watch Night One live. Plus, they'd have to avoid watching Night Two (because that show would spoil the results of its predecessor.)

These fans would be unable to watch WrestleMania live. It's much easier to explain to an employer that you need one night off for wrestling rather than an entire weekend.

#3. Positive: More WWE Superstars can create their own WrestleMania moments

Last year, WrestleMania was around six hours long. The card was relatively small, and WWE had to make several last-minute replacements.

As a result, several wrestlers were able to have WrestleMania moments that may not have happened otherwise. For example, Braun Strowman won the WWE Universal Championship when he took Roman Reigns' place in a match with Goldberg. Bianca Belair also shined at the show, as she made her WrestleMania debut alongside her husband, Montez Ford.

WrestleMania 36 didn't include any battle royals because of the strict COVID-19 protocols that limited the number of wrestlers WWE could use at the same time.

This year, the rules could be different, so WWE might be less limited. The company could include many top stars on the show. As of this writing, it's unclear whether the Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal and Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal will be on the card WrestleMania 37. But these staples of the show could return this year.

Regardless, the two-night show opens up plenty of room for some debuts and surprises that could hype up the WWE Universe.

#2. Negative: The Hall of Fame Ceremony will be missing from WrestleMania weekend again

The annual WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony was one of the biggest casualties of WrestleMania weekend in 2020. Several months have passed, but WWE still hasn't held the ceremony. As a result, many legends are still waiting to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Most fans believed that the Hall of Fame Ceremony from 2020 would be aired in 2021 instead. In theory, the likes of JBL, the Bella Twins, and Batista would finally be inducted into the prestigious group ahead of WrestleMania.

The fact that WrestleMania will now take place over two nights means that the Hall of Fame Ceremony probably won't be part of the weekend. For this reason, it could be pushed even further back. WWE SummerSlam has been rumored as a potential location for the ceremony this year.

Additionally, the two-night formula might limit the representation of NXT in WrestleMania weekend. NXT TakeOver was not held alongside "The Showcase of the Immortals" in 2020. WWE might opt to hold the event separately this year, too.

#1. Positive: Royal Rumble winners will actually be able to main event WrestleMania

The Royal Rumble has always been billed as the match where the winner will go on to main event WrestleMania. But since 2018, there have been two Royal Rumble matches, and only one winner has competed in the WrestleMania main event.

Several WWE stars have missed out on their rightful place in a WrestleMania main event. The likes of Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Seth Rollins have played their parts in the biggest show of the year, but they didn't get the chance to close it out.

This year could be very different. A two-night show will require two distinct main events. In theory, the Women's Royal Rumble Winner could main event one night, and the men's winner could do the same thing on the other show.

That way, both genders would have the chance to shine at WrestleMania. Plus, having the Royal Rumble Winners main event WrestleMania would restore some of the prestigious match's importance.
