The October 22 edition of Raw saw one of the most emotional beginnings to the show. Roman Reigns announced that he was relinquishing his Universal Championship in order to battle with leukemia that had raised its ugly head once again after 11 years.

After his promo, we saw the other two members of The Shield walk out and embrace their brother, which marked the end of The Shield for now.

With that said, it made perfect sense that the current alliance of Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose wasn’t required anymore, and Dean had teased turning on Rollins a couple of times this month.

However, no one even imagined that WWE would choose the same night for Dean Ambrose to turn heel and bury The Shield for good. It came as one of the biggest surprises in recent memory even though it was an expected move.

The move also cemented the fact that Dean Ambrose was still loyal to Roman Reigns, and only had a problem with Seth Rollins. As soon as Reigns walked out of the picture, he took little time to turn heel against the man who had done so years ago against him and Reigns.

Brutally attacking Seth Rollins, while Rollins only muttered the words ‘Why?’ constantly, showing that he too was unaware that such a move would take place. Especially after Reigns’ extremely emotional announcement, and after they won the Raw tag team titles and dedicated the match to Roman Reigns.
