Kofi Kingston's journey to WrestleMania 35 was not just about Kofi's 11 years of hard work. It was also about the friendship and brotherhood shared between Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods.

Their friendship was put to a real test by Vince McMahon on the March 26, 2019 episode of Smackdown Live. In order to give Kofi Kingston the opportunity to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35, Xavier Woods and Big E were required to face 5 other tag teams in a Gauntlet match, in which they emerged victorious against all odds.

Since July 2014, The New Day has been an integral part of the WWE programming. It has immensely benefited all the three superstars in building up their credibility as performers, which could, later, provide a launch pad for a singles push. Kofi Kingston is just a prime example of that.

As they say, however, 'All good things must come to an end'. Just like Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods also deserve a flourishing singles career, which is not possible without the disbandment of The New Day. It was heavily speculated that Big E or Xavier Woods would turn on Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35 and would cost him the WWE Championship. Fortunately, this did not happen.

WWE may have planned this for a future date to set up this personal rivalry. These plans may have been nixed due to the knee injury sustained by Big E, which has put him out of action for the time being. However, whenever he makes a comeback, we should not be surprised if the WWE decides to pull the trigger soon after. Till it happens, it is necessary that Kofi Kingston remains the WWE Champion for the sheer emotional impact it would have on the WWE Universe.
