There is no denying that Randy Orton is a gigantic name and he headlined many pay-per-views of WWE. From a young age, Orton has attained plenty of success. The Viper was crowned the youngest World Champion in WWE and he won the WWE World Title 13 times in his career. Apart from winning the WWE Championship multiple times, the Viper is also a Grand Slam Champion.

Considering SummerSlam is one of the biggest events of WWE, some big names headline the show every year. If Orton challenges the most coveted prize of the Blue Brand, it can certainly garner the attention of WWE Universe.

Interestingly, Orton was not part of SummerSlam last year but he could headline the show if he becomes the number one contender for Kofi Kingston.

#2 A top heel vs a top babyface

It's no secret that WWE loves to book a feud between a heel and a babyface. Since becoming the WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston has been facing some bad guys of Vince McMahon's company.

When Kingston faced Kevin Owens at Money in the Bank, the latter was a heel, moreover, Dolph Ziggler also returned as a heel. Subsequently, Samoa Joe brought the best out of Kofi Kingston as the former US Champion is considered one of the best bad guys in the business.

Kingston is currently one of the biggest babyfaces of the company and he needs to lock horns with a big heel at the biggest show of the summer. Randy Orton, who is one of the biggest heels of the company, could be an ideal choice to face the WWE Champion.

The Viper already sent a message to Kingston by pinning the latter on SmackDown Live this week. Considering the track record of Orton, he could deliver an awe-inspiring rivalry with Kingston at SummerSlam.

#1 Randy Orton has not been WWE Champion for a long time

When Randy Orton made his return on SmackDown Live this week, he had an exciting segment with Kofi Kingston. The Viper mentioned that the gold has not been around his waist for a long time, hence, he would like to win the WWE Title by using three most destructive letters in sports entertainment, RKO. Since Orton issued a direct warning to Kofi Kingston, he might be coming for the WWE Championship.

Orton's last WWE Title reign was two years ago when he won the WWE Title from Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33. It was his first WWE Championship win at the Grandest Stage of Them All but the title reign didn't last long as he lost the belt to Jinder Mahal at Backlash. During his last title reign, Orton didn't have a notable momentum, however, the scenario is different this time as he pinned Triple H in his last bout at Super ShowDown.

Kofi Kingston already pinned Samoa Joe at Extreme Rules and the latter may not get a rematch. It will be the biggest challenge for Kingston in his current title reign if Orton becomes the number one contender for the WWE Championship
