3 Reasons why Samoa Joe should win the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules

Samoa Joe laid out a vicious attack on WWE Champion Kofi Kingston on tonight's Raw, and it seems the Samoan Submission Machine is next in line for a title opportunity.

Joe had lost the United States Championship to Ricochet at Stomping Grounds PPV. The fans would've thought Joe would concentrate on regaining the US title from Ricochet, but he made it clear that he is going after a bigger prize.

Samoa Joe has had multiple opportunities for the Universal & WWE Championships in the past, but couldn't get the job done. It's been almost three years since he made his main roster debut, but WWE has not anything significant with the Samoan Submission Machine.

Samoa Joe might get another shot at the WWE title after his attack on the champion on Raw. We can expect the match to be made official on this week's SmackDown Live, and the fans are hoping Samoa Joe will finally get a well deserved run with the WWE Championship.

#3 Kofi's title reign is getting stale

Kofi Kingston made history when he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. He became the first African born WWE Champion in the company's history, and WWE had booked the road to his monumental win in perfect fashion.

Kingston has defended the title successfully against some elite performers in the WWE. He has had six title defenses ever since winning the title at WrestleMania, and he did it against the likes of Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn & Dolph Ziggler.

WWE's idea was to portray Kofi Kingston as the ultimate underdog doing whatever it takes to achieve his dream. That was the theme behind his title win and also in his title defenses.

Kofi Kingston has already established himself as an underdog champion. The company carrying out the same theme is slowly making Kingston's title reign stale and could come back to bite them in the neck. So this could be the right time for WWE to take the title from Kingston and put in on Samoa Joe.

#2 To prevent Shane McMahon from winning the WWE Championship

The WrestleVotes twitter account which had broken out stories of Mansoor’s battle royal win and R-Truth’s 5th title win on an airplane dropped a bombshell on the WWE Universe with the following tweet.

The fans went in panic mode after seeing the tweet and started to lament the possibility of seeing Shane McMahon beat Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship.

WWE has been putting a lot of emphasis on Shane McMahon since he turned heel at Fastlane. He is doing an excellent job in drawing some legitimate heel heat and is arguably the current top heel in the WWE.

But that alone does not qualify to get a run with the WWE Championship. Shane McMahon is 49 years old, and there are a lot of younger and deserving talents on the roster who are waiting for the opportunity.

If Samoa Joe wins the WWE title at Extreme Rules, it could close all the possibilities of Shane McMahon winning the title. The fans certainly do not want to see Shane O'Mac as WWE Champion and would love to have the Samoan Submission Machine take that spot.

#1 Samoa Joe deserves to win the title

Samoa Joe is a veteran of the professional wrestling industry, honing his craft for almost nineteen years. He was one of the originals who made TNA into a legitimate competition to the WWE in the early 2000s and also held multiple Championships in the promotion.

But it’s taking a lot of time for Joe to replicate the same success in the WWE. It’s been four years since he signed with the WWE and apart from two reigns each with the NXT Championship & the United States Championship, he hasn’t accomplished much in the world’s largest wrestling promotion.

While his TNA colleague AJ Styles has already a two time WWE Champion with his recent reign lasting a record 371 days, Joe is finding it tough to make a name for himself in the company.

It's about time WWE stops looking over Joe in terms of Championship opportunities and give him a well deserved run with the WWE Championship. He is just 40 years old and is in his prime. This could be the right opportunity for WWE to acknowledge Joe's talents and have him win the WWE title at Extreme Rules.
