All eyes are on the Undertaker as the Deadman will team up with Roman Reigns to take on the team of Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules 2019. The sudden return of the Undertaker was a shock to most of the WWE fans since he had an underwhelming match against Goldberg at WWE Super Showdown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Taker interrupted the 2-on-1 handicap match between Roman Reigns and the team of Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre. While Shane was preparing to perform a coast-to-coast on the Big Dog, the legendary gongs hit - followed by a brief blackout. When the lights came back, the Undertaker was on the ring and attacked both Shane and McIntyre.

While many fans are speculating on whom the Deadman will face at SummerSlam, the most obvious choice should be Roman Reigns. In this list, we will take a look at a few signs that WWE gave us hinting this matchup at SummerSlam 2019.

#3. A marquee matchup for the event

WWE lacked star power during the PPVs after WrestleMania 35 (except Super Showdown).

After WrestleMania 35, WWE had a handful of PPVs like Money in the Bank, Super Showdown, and Stomping Grounds. We will also get Extreme Rules this month. However, baring Super Showdown, most of the PPVs did not have any marquee matchups. Even though most of the PPVs were excellent, the lack of any real stars has hurt the attendance and rating for the events and the TV shows leading up to them.

However, a Roman Reigns vs the Undertaker match could bring some eyes back to the product since the Undertaker is still one of the biggest names in WWE. Pitting WWE's two huge superstars against each other will be beneficial for WWE's TV programming - at least in the short run.

#2. To propel Roman Reigns back into the main event scene.

Roman Reigns has been in the mid-card for a while now.

After returning from his Leukemia hiatus, Roman Reigns has been doing his time in the mid-card. Reigns had a main event clash at Fastlane. However, he had a mid-card match against Drew McIntyre at both WrestleMania 35 and WWE Stomping Grounds. Reigns had a ten-second squash match against Elias at Money in the Bank 2019. Reigns even lost to Shane McMahon at Super Showdown in another short match.

WWE is still clearly backing Roman Reigns as the face of the company. So the creatives would be looking forward to pushing Reigns to the main event scene as fast as possible. What better way to do it than by matching the Big Dog against the Phenom at SummerSlam 2019?

Reigns might pin Taker again - this time at SummerSlam. This move may instigate the fans but that could be the most logical step WWE could take right now.

#1. To put an end to Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns rivalry.

This rivalry has been underwhelming, to say the least.

Without a blink of an eye, one could say that one of the worst rivalries of this year has been between Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns. Both of them started feuding around after the Superstar Shakeup when Reigns moved to SmackDown LIVE and punched Vince McMahon.

Since then, both Reigns and Shane (and Drew McIntyre) have been in the spotlight for both RAW and SmackDown LIVE. They have been repeating the same segments week in and week out, exhausting the fans from entertainment. WWE will be looking forward to ending this rivalry once and for all.

During the tag team match at Extreme Rules, The Undertaker may attack Roman Reigns (as a retaliation for his defeat at WrestleMania 33) costing his team the win. Such a step would ensure two things. One, Roman Reigns will have an opponent for SummerSlam and two, it would help to boost Shane McMahon's ego - which could help Shane's feud for SummerSlam.
