WWE has to strike while the iron is hot!

3 Things that must happen on SmackDown Live (2/19/2019)

Alright, ladies and gentlemen. We are fresh off the heels of a surprisingly good WWE Elimination Chamber event that took place this past Sunday night, no less than 48 hours ago.

Last night on Monday Night RAW, we witnessed the debuts of four NXT Superstars for the RAW Brand, as many of your NXT favorites such as Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black, and Ricochet all made their in-ring debuts for the main roster.

With that being said, what will we see take place tonight on SmackDown Live? Today, I talk about three things that must happen in order to ensure a successful follow up to the Elimination Chamber that also sets the stage for WWE Fastlane on March 10th. Keep in mind, these are in no particular order.

#1 - Kofi Kingston must continue his momentum and have a match against WWE Champion Daniel Bryan!

For over a week, New Day member Kofi Kingston has been the talk of the wrestling world. He went through a grueling 60+ minute Gauntlet Match on last week's SmackDown Live to earn a spot in the Elimination Chamber match to replace an injured Mustafa Ali.

At the Elimination Chamber PPV, Kingston had the WWE Universe at his fingertips when he came oh so close to becoming the new WWE Champion, as Kofi came within an eyelash of defeating the "new" Daniel Bryan. Even though Kingston came up short, he showed the world that he is more than deserving of having a run as the WWE Champion someday.

Now, having said that, what we must see happen tonight is Kofi Kingston get his WWE Championship opportunity. Bryan currently does not have an opponent for WrestleMania 35. I'm not saying that Kofi will face Bryan at the grandest stage of them all, however, it's quite possible that we could see a match booked between the two for tonight's show or better yet, as one of the headlining matches for WWE Fastlane on March 10th.

#2 - Could we see more NXT Superstars debut on SmackDown Live?

As most of the WWE Universe should know after last night's Monday Night RAW, we saw a bit of an NXT invasion, so as to speak, when Triple H announced the newest members of the RAW Brand from the NXT roster. The burning question is; could we see another wave of NXT Superstars join the big blue brand? It's not too far fetched to think of at least two or three Superstars make their debuts tonight.

Three names that come to mind immediately would be the current NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler and the NXT Tag Team Champions, The War Raiders. Another name that must be mentioned but deserves to be on the main roster is Velveteen Dream. You have four big names that can make the transition to SmackDown Live and would prove to be a fresh fit on the roster.

Shayna Baszler would obviously be SmackDown's answer to "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey on RAW, bringing with her a killer instinct and a no-nonsense, smash-mouth, MMA style that would bring anyone on the SmackDown Live women's roster to their knees.

You have the War Raiders, who have proven to be one of the most agile and hard-hitting big men that can take the SmackDown Live Tag Team Division over by storm.

Finally, you have Velveteen Dream, who has shown the WWE Universe time and time again that he is more than ready to make his debut on the main roster and can go up against with just about anyone. Can you imagine the match-ups between Velveteen Dream and the likes of Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali? The list goes on.

As they say, "anything can happen" in the WWE! Will we be seeing a change of the guard heading into WrestleMania 35?

#3 - Is ANYONE ready for Asuka?

Conspicuous by her recent absence is SmackDown Live Women's Champion, Asuka. She was not booked to appear or wrestle at Elimination Chamber. She has virtually been forgotten about in the midst of the Becky Lynch/Charlotte Flair/Ronda Rousey love fest going on in the WWE.

Tonight is the perfect night to kickstart a new and fresh program with the Empress of Tomorrow. Perhaps a heel turn in her favor would be a bold, yet reasonable and smart move for the company.

Let's face it; outside of WWE live events, we have not seen Asuka on television ever since her Royal Rumble title defense over Becky Lynch. I believe in spite of the language barrier, WWE can get Asuka over as a heel who is bitter, angry and hurt from being left out.

Place her in a program with someone like Naomi, Carmella (in spite of the ongoing personal issues with the two) or heck, give her a program with Shayna Baszler if the WWE were to pull the trigger (hypothetically) on bringing her to the main roster.

In hindsight, I would've preferred to have seen a Charlotte versus Asuka rematch from a year ago, with Asuka getting her revenge victory for Flair ending Asuka's massive winning streak. Nevertheless, given who we have left on the Smackdown Live Women's Roster, along with any names that could make the jump from NXT, you can still have a relatively decent program with Asuka and [insert WWE Superstar name here]. The WWE can even go another route in which you place six, or perhaps as much as eight women in a ladder match with Asuka to determine who will be the next SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

Seems like I'm grasping at straws, but my point is we have a slew of different scenarios and options that WWE can roll with in terms of Asuka's character, whether they choose to continue her as a babyface or turn her into a heel.
