It was another horrific week for Lacey Evans

4 Hilarious botches that you missed this week on Raw (May 6th, 2019)

The road to Money in the Bank was always going to be a long one for WWE as the company looked to push forward following the biggest event of the year. Finally, the annual pay-per-view that sees two interesting ladder matches takes place next weekend and the penultimate build up to the show seemingly took a detour.

Vince McMahon announced a Wild Card Rule where he basically declared that the brand split was over since stars can now appear on Raw and SmackDown Live even if they aren't part of that roster. This meant that the likes of Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston and Roman Reigns were all on Raw this week and there were two interesting WrestleMania rematches.

Whilst this week's episode of Raw was under a lot of pressure given the fact that the show was competing against the NBA when it came to ratings, it was obvious that it would be quite an interesting episode.

#4. Bobby Lashley's spear

Lashley and Corbin won the match, but at what cost?
Ad

Bobby Lashley has become well-known for his spear over the years, so much so that the former ECW Champion has been rumoured to be facing Goldberg in Saudi Arabia so that the two stars can decide who has the best spear, but this week's episode of Raw showed that his spears to the outside aren't the same calibre.

Lashley speared AJ Styles to the outside during their tag team match that also included Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin but Lashley seemingly underprepared for the spot since he came out of the ring head first and spiked the mat below. Big E is the only star who is seemingly able to hit a move of this level and make it look fluid and as seen from the video below, Lashley isn't on his level at all.

#3. Three, Four or Five Vince?

Elias invaded Roman Reigns' match against Drew McIntyre

Vince McMahon declared that the Wild Card rule would be now in action on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live and at the top of the show this included just three stars from the opposite brand.

Lars Sullivan later invaded the show to take out No Way Jose and McMahon declared that he would allow four men instead because he didn't want to have to suspend or fire The Freak. Interestingly though, Elias and Shane came over from SmackDown Live and attacked Roman Reigns without any kind of backlash.

McMahon is protected because he's part of The Authority, but he left Elias behind to continue to beatdown Roman Reigns despite the fact that he wasn't given permission to be on Raw. Vince McMahon never mentioned Elias either which means that this could easily have been another oversite by the company.

#2. Lacey Evans' match

Lacey Evans had a terrible night on Raw

Lacey Evans invited the women from the Money in the Bank ladder match to watch her match against a local jobber this week on Raw but it didn't really go to plan. Her opponent looked underprepared, wasn't in great positions when Lacey needed her to be and then the finish of the match was so underwhelming that Michael Cole didn't even know that it was Lacey Evans' finisher.

Corey Graves saves him and points out that it's The Women's Right, even though the woman took the right hand at full force and stays down. It wasn't a great advertisement for the woman to could become Raw Women's Champion in less than two weeks time, but for some reason, WWE remain hot on The Sassy Southern Belle and despite the number of botches she's been part of in recent weeks, she's still in a prominent position on Raw.

#1. Michael Cole had a dire outing

Michael Cole had a rough night on Raw

WWE fired one of their lead Raw writers ahead of this week's show, which could be why the atmosphere surrounding this week's show was so tense. Michael Cole seemed to have an absolutely dire night since he was tripping over his words throughout and it appeared as though he was having a few issues with the people who were feeding the information to him.

Cole referred to Monday Night Raw as "Monday Night Yard" at the beginning of the show, completely overlooked Lacey Evans' finisher and then mumbled a lot of his words as he attempted to get through the show under a lot of pressure. Cole also stated that this was the first WWE Championship match on Raw in three years, despite the fact that Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins had a Championship match on Raw last month.

Vince McMahon was obviously in his ear for most of the show and this could have been why Cole came across as nervous throughout.
