Lacey has shown signs of being a solid competitor and it seems like the McMahons have entrusted her to be the next big thing on Raw. Had Lacey won the Championship, it would've been quite remarkable for her simply because this was her first PPV on the main roster.

There have been quite a few instances in the past where WWE has delivered upsets only to announce a certain superstar as the next big thing. Take Sheamus for example- the Celtic Warrior won the WWE Championship in just a few months of his main roster debut and that too against John Cena. The Irish superstar had a great run thereon and it is fair to say it transformed Sheamus' status from a mid-carder to the main eventer.

WWE Creative had the chance to script an identical storyline for Lacey but they didn't!
