5 bold directions for The Fiend and Randy Orton's WWE feud

On the recent edition of WWE RAW, Randy Orton faced AJ Styles in the main event. Unfortunately for The Viper, "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt had different plans in mind for the 14-time world champion.

Towards the end of the match, The Fiend spooked Randy Orton on two different occasions. The second distraction was enough for Styles to capitalize on the opportunity and deliver a Phenomenal Forearm to Orton for the victory.

Although Bray Wyatt had been teasing a new program with Orton for several weeks, the latest episode of WWE RAW confirmed that their feud will now be a recurring part of the Red brand from this point onwards.

This brings up a few interesting possibilities for their upcoming feud, and this particular feature will be taking a look at a few unusual ways through which WWE can tackle their long-running rivalry.

#5: Randy Orton targets and controls Funhouse Bray Wyatt to change The Fiend's narrative in WWE

When Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton feuded in WWE several years ago, The Viper targeted figures that Wyatt depended upon the most.

It's been established that Bray Wyatt always needs other people and entities to lean on in order to survive in WWE. The Fiend and Funhouse Bray Wyatt have an inexplicable connection. Perhaps Orton could target the relatively weaker personality - Funhouse Wyatt - in order to prevent the stronger one - The Fiend - from surfacing out in front of him.

Randy Orton is one of those WWE Superstars who knows how to control the narrative in any storyline, and it's clear that Funhouse Wyatt has traumatic flashbacks to Orton burning his compound whenever The Viper's name is brought up.

Randy Orton may capitalize on Funhouse Wyatt's pain and fear to dictate the narrative. On the other hand, The Fiend is determined to scare the living daylights out of The Viper, judging by their encounters in the past few weeks. This is why Randy Orton may have no other choice but to target Funhouse Bray Wyatt to gain some control over this situation.

#4: The Fiend brings out the worst in Randy Orton; Orton attacks Alexa Bliss in WWE as a result

Randy Orton has delivered an RKO to several female WWE personalities over all these years.

But for him to attack Alexa Bliss would cross a different boundary altogether. It's no secret that The Fiend changes the personalities of those whom he feuds with, which is why Wyatt's evil alter-ego doesn't frequently switch from one feud to another.

The feuds he does have extend for a few months so that a rich storyline can be established. That is exactly what may happen in the case of Randy Orton. In the upcoming months, Orton may start changing into a more sinister man than he already is at the moment.

The Legend Killer has done some reprehensible things in 2020, but The Fiend could bring out the most deplorable version of Orton that fans may have never seen before in WWE.

To gain leverage against The Fiend, Orton could attack Alexa Bliss at some point. Inter-gender violence isn't everyone's cup of tea, but in a surreal setting like this one, even the most despicable actions may seem justifiable.

Bray Wyatt already lost his family before The Fiend came into existence, and Orton was a major catalyst behind that. So it's quite possible that The Viper could threaten the safety of the closest person to Bray Wyatt/The Fiend in WWE right now, who is Alexa Bliss.

#3: Randy Orton and Nikki Cross become temporary allies to face The Fiend and Alexa Bliss in a mixed tag team match in WWE

On the recent edition of WWE RAW, a rather cheerful Alexa Bliss faced Nikki Cross in a one-on-one match, where the former prevailed as the winner.

Alexa and Nikki's relationship has evolved way past their time together as former tag team partners at this point. Even though Nikki still wants to see the old Alexa resurface in WWE, her aggressive intent to harm the new version of Alexa Bliss has become apparent.

If The Fiend and Randy Orton's feud is supposed to span out across several months, a mixed tag team match between all aforementioned participants could be a great idea. Randy Orton is sort of a lone wolf as a heel, so it would be interesting to see him form a temporary alliance with Nikki Cross on WWE RAW.

If Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss were to lure both Randy Orton and Nikki Cross inside the Firefly Funhouse, it could be the perfect catalyst for Orton and Cross to form a temporary alliance and have each other's backs against two people who come across as unhinged lunatics.

#2: Edge becomes a part of The Fiend and Randy Orton's WWE feud; Edge and Orton reunite as Rated-RKO after feuding with The Fiend

There was a time when Randy Orton and Edge wrestled on the same side as a bunch of dastardly heels in WWE. While Orton is still a despicable heel, Edge has assumed the role of a babyface legend.

Perhaps the one thing that can bring them together is a bigger evil in WWE, and in this case, that evil would mean The Fiend.

Rumors were circling around which stated that a WrestleMania program between Edge and The Fiend was discussed backstage, to some extent. Whenever Edge comes back, it is quite likely that he may challenge Randy Orton to a rubber match at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.

But now that Randy Orton's feud with The Fiend has been established, it's quite likely that Edge may have to face The Fiend's wrath before getting a chance to wrestle Randy Orton.

The key point here is that The Fiend could change Edge's personality in the long run, which would mean that the Rated-R Superstar could revert to his heelish tendencies and team up with Randy Orton under the Rated-RKO label once again.

WWE's tag team division would benefit a lot from this potential booking decision.

#1: The Fiend/Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton wrestle in a surreal cinematic match that addresses their past in WWE

Just like Bray Wyatt's feud with John Cena, his WWE rivalry with Randy Orton is also rooted in the past.

Wyatt and Orton's House of Horrors match was a horrifying experience for many WWE fans for all the wrong reasons, but several developments have occurred since then. The Boneyard Match kickstarted a new wave of cinematic matches in WWE, and more often than not, WWE has upscaled their production in these types of matches to deliver a more refined product during the pandemic.

Moreover, The Fiend is a more intimidating character than Bray Wyatt ever was at the time of the House of Horrors match. What is also different this time is that while things may have gone wrong in the past, now is the time to correct those mistakes, just like WWE did with John Cena and Bray Wyatt's feud earlier this year.

In Wyatt and Orton's potential cinematic match, The Viper could relive his past from being a part of Legacy and Evolution to portraying The Legend Killer. Viewers may get to see Orton's biggest fears as well, which is something Wyatt did with Cena at WrestleMania 36.

Since Randy Orton was the one who burned down the soul of Sister Abigail, a cinematic match would also allow WWE to explore Sister Abigail's lore, which is something that fans passionately discuss even to this day.
