5 Current WWE Superstars who won't be in Hall of Fame

There are many milestones to becoming a professional wrestler, with nearly everyone striving to achieve fame, fortune and glory.

Anybody who is passionate enough will tell you the same stories of wanting to main event WrestleMania to win the WWE Championship and to go down in history as being one of the greats.

When someone is lucky enough to have a good enough career in a multitude of different ways—popularity and maintaining the right friendships in the business being two of those contributing factors—they find themselves in the discussion for being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

From Hulk Hogan to Edge, Alundra Blayze to Mr T, it is the quintessential sign that you made a mark on the industry and that you'll be remembered forever.

Sadly, not everybody gets a chance to be in that illustrious club, and while a very large portion of the current roster's Superstars are already earning their stripes, there are others who won't get the accolade.

This list will focus on a few of those names while ignoring some of the more obvious answers, as people who haven't had a chance yet to really have a run on the roster can always turn things around and some other choices are just far too easy.

Ignoring the names like Curt Hawkins, Bo Dallas as well as newcomers like Mike Kanellis who haven't had an opportunity to scratch the surface, here are five examples of people in WWE's current talent pool who will likely be passed over and never be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

#1 Enzo Amore

Don't mishear "a couple of haters" for "Hall of Famer."

If recent news is any indication, Enzo Amore might not even be employed by the end of the year, let alone find himself in good enough graces to build a Hall of Fame career around himself.

He has talent when it comes to the gift of gab, but many are quick to criticize his in-ring performance as being more on the side of lacklustre than what anybody would want to shower much praise upon.

Worse, though, is his backstage reputation, which has been increasingly going down the toilet as of late.

Assuming there's truth to the hearsay and rumours and speculation, Amore is so disliked backstage that he's been kicked out of the locker room numerous times and doesn't have many supporters left to fight for keeping him on the payroll.

The more time that goes by, the harder it will be to turn this around, as reputations like that stick to people even if they're baseless.

Plus, Amore has had little kayfabe success, never even managing to capture a single tag team title with Big Cass.

It's unlikely he'll be winning the Cruiserweight Championship to kick off a historic title reign at No Mercy, and if these trends continue, Amore will be a footnote more than a legend, and you can't teach that.

#2 The Colons

That's not cool.

Carlos Colon Sr. was inducted into the 2014 class of the WWE Hall of Fame, but judging by the track record of the rest of his family, it seems he'll be the only one to receive that honour.

Had he stayed with the company, Carlito might have had a long enough career in WWE to earn him a spot, as he was a rather successful and solid midcarder with several titles to his name.

Carlito's time away from WWE has stopped that dead in its tracks, since he hasn't been involved in any capacity for years, outside of inducting his father.

Primo and Epico, though, still manage to fall short of even Carlito when it comes to the potential of being inducted.

Winning the tag titles in an era where the company couldn't care less about the entire tag team division is not going to stand out, and The Colons weren't even impressive when they did that, which was the highlight of their careers.

The duo has never really connected with the crowd or put on amazingly memorable matches no matter what they've tried to do.

When they were repackaged as Los Matadores, they were jokes, but they followed that up with an even more cringe-worthy gimmick: The Shining Stars.

Sometimes, being silly can make you a hit, like with The Bushwhackers or Hacksaw Jim Duggan, but other times, it just evokes pity.

When they tried to turn things around with a more serious side, Primo was hit with an injury and all activity has halted since then.

There's absolutely no chance they can ever undo the damage they've done to their careers and make a big enough mark to have fans clamouring for their inductions like what happens every year with wrestlers like Owen Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow, Davey Boy Smith and so on.

#3 Sin Cara

Which Sin Cara would you even induct?
Ad

One of the most unfortunate debacles of the past decade was the signing, push, retraction and descent into the nothingness that is the Sin Cara character.

Originally, it was a monumental deal that Mistico would be joining WWE and effectively transitioning into a role as the next Rey Mysterio.

For months, he was built up as a mega star, but drama behind the scenes and some injuries coupled with an inability to perform at the level fans were expecting led to some crazy circumstances.

Eventually, there would be two Sin Cara characters—Sin Cara Azul (the real one) and Sin Cara Negro (the impostor)—but not long after that, there would be a complete reversal as Sin Cara Negro (formerly known as Hunico after being exposed) would take over the mantle.

This switch act and the overall lacklustre response to the character, in general, has tarnished the image so much that Sin Cara has spent the better part of his career as a midcard jobber rather than a Lucha Libre legend.

In 2011, it seemed as though this was the next big star to take the Hispanic audience into the next generation of wrestling fans, but just a few short years later, it became apparent that the experiment had failed.

Now, in 2017, what few fans the character has left are lucky to see him lose to people like Aiden English on a random and sporadic episode of SmackDown once in a while, so all hopes of a Hall of Fame career are gone.

#4 Summer Rae

Can anybody even name Summer Rae's finisher?
Ad

Summer Rae has been in the WWE family since December of 2011 and has accomplished absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Here we are, six years later, and it's hard to even remember any feuds she's been in, let alone legendary feats that can be used as an outline for a Hall of Fame induction speech.

Having gone through the FCW and NXT system before spending many years on the main roster, it's perplexing how little she's actually done, as she's mostly only wrestled a handful of matches here and there, losing just about all of them.

The first exposure most people had to her was as Fandango's backup dancer, which is truly the highlight of her career and an example of peaking too quickly.

She had some screen time on Total Divas that was brushed over in favour of more sensational people like The Bella Twins and Eva Marie, so that venture failed as well, making her more on par with Rosa Mendes as far as her atrocious track record in WWE than someone like Trish Stratus.

It's been well over a year since she's been seen at all, and the clock is ticking toward what feels like an announcement of her release rather than any signs of a career resurgence.

It's a shame, as she certainly has value and some skills to offer, but it just seems as though she drew the short straw with her professional wrestling career and would be better off focusing her efforts on her modelling side of things instead.

#5 The Ascension

Konnor and Viktor can't even get a tasty pie from Breezango, let alone inductions in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Ad

Several years back, when The Ascension were the most dominant thing NXT had ever seen, it would have been unfathomable to be able to criticise them the way we view them now.

Strangely, their careers took a nosedive when they were moved up to the main roster, instead of being the next step toward greatness.

Very quickly, Konnor and Viktor found themselves on the losing side of things instead of being a powerhouse tag team with gold around their waists.

This booking has continued for the entirety of their careers, whether they're on Raw or SmackDown.

Only for a few brief days now and again do they ever seem to be of any value to WWE in any means other than being the butt of a joke, the fall guys who have to take the loss, or expendable house show talent to give other people a break from in-ring action.

By now, they've spent too much time losing to ever try to get back that mystique of being the next Legion of Doom and at any point in time, WWE could cut ties with them and not many fans would be too shocked.

There's no WWE Hall of Fame pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow in the wasteland.
