5 dream matches for Will Ospreay in WWE

Will Ospreay hardly seems to be the talent who would fit in as an integral part of the WWE roster. He began primarily as a high-flyer, with his acrobatic efforts during matches earning simultaneous praise and criticism.

Amongst his critics were certain legends of the industry and active WWE superstars. Thus, a connection between the Aerial Assassin and the Vince McMahon-led behemoth seems impossible.

However, in pro wrestling, one can never say never. Ospreay once participated in a heated Twitter exchange with Big Van Vader, which led to the duo facing each other in a pro wrestling match. Ospreay is currently a featured star for NJPW and its partners. But at one point in his career, he may want to accept an offer from WWE to try his luck.

Ospreay is no longer a pure high-flyer and at this point, he is more of an all-rounder. He has vastly improved his mat game and often uses powerhouse moves. Moreover, he has multiple dream matches waiting to transpire if he signs with WWE.

#5 Former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion Cesaro

Not many in the pro wrestling industry have any doubts over Cesaro's in-ring ability. His often bland promo skills are negated and then some by his impressive in-ring skills.

Having a seemingly endless arsenal, Cesaro could prove to be a good starting rival for Will Ospreay if the latter joins WWE. They can participate in a multi-match feud and the in-ring work will certainly be stellar.

Another option is to recreate Cesaro's best-of-seven series with Sheamus. Ospreay will prove his worth to the unaware portion of the WWE audience, and Cesaro will shine bright in every match.

#4 WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns

Even if Ospreay decides to join WWE, he will possibly never be treated as a constant main eventer with multiple world championship reigns. However, like Cesaro and others, he may receive a shot or two at the title.

Roman Reigns has never underdelivered in his title matches since the start of his lengthy WWE Universal Championship reign. A hypothetical match between Ospreay and The Head of the Table would be magical, with Reigns' power and cleverness tested by Ospreay's superhuman reflex and endless move-set.

#3 Former WWE Champion Seth Rollins

After a few days to sit on it, I’d like to apologize to @WillOspreay for the tweet I sent his way about comparing bank accounts. It was dumb of me & not in line with my values. The moment I pressed the send button I knew it was trash, but I’m too stubborn for my own good.

At one point, Seth Rollins tried too hard to claim a spot as the company's social media protector. Aggressively defending his promotion over Twitter, Rollins would go on to partake in an ugly social media river with Will Ospreay, with The Messiah asking for a comparison of their bank balance.

Rollins later apologized to Ospreay over his tweet but maintained his opinion of WWE's greatness. The former WWE Champion has since lowered the intensity of his social media game.

A match between the duo would thus have an automatic history, with the in-ring skills and charisma of both competitors possibly creating an instant classic.

#2 WWE RAW Tag Team Champion Randy Orton

A match between the current WWE RAW Tag Team Champion and the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion will have a ready-made build. Two years ago, Orton and Ospreay engaged in a bizarre Twitter feud that ended with the two hinting towards a match.

This, alongside Orton's well-known disdain for high-flying, acrobatic indie-style wrestling, will create a match based on differences in style and characteristics.

Randy Orton told me 6 months ago "it's almost like some of these guys that have been in the indies 15 years think they know everything."

A motivated Orton is capable of producing great matches, and he may even put over the younger star and raise his prestige.

#1 Former WWE United States Champion Ricochet

Ricochet is in no way a top WWE competitor, with horrendous bookings tainting his very on-screen existence. But if there is one way he can return to stardom, it is through this hypothetical situation.

On May 27, 2016, Ricochet faced Will Ospreay in a highly acrobatic contest that divided the professional wrestling industry into two groups. Some called the match a gymnastics routine with no psychology.

A future repeat of the match inside a WWE ring has all the risks of turning tame, but if provided enough freedom, the duo can attract widespread attention once again.
