The New Day draped with championship gold.

5 Factions that The New Day still must face in WWE

The New Day is arguably one of the top factions in modern WWE history and the trio of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have established their place as one of the most loved stables to have ever graced the professional wrestling industry.

With 8 WWE Tag Team Championship reigns to their name, The New Day is one of the highly-successful stables in WWE. Following the split of The Shield in 2019, The New Day are now, by far, the longest-standing faction in the company.

The majority of the stables on the main roster currently are still in their initial stages, having only just started out in WWE. By contrast, The New Day has already competed at the very highest-level in WWE and have faced pretty much every challenge available to them during their six-year run.

Over the years, Kofi, Big E, and Woods have had classic matches against the likes of The Shield, The Wyatt Family, and The O.C (FKA The Club), all of whom are some of the finest stables in recent WWE history. However, given how stacked the present-day WWE roster is, there are still plenty of first-time opponents available for The New Day and there are a number of factions who they are yet to share the ring with in WWE.

On a recent edition of WWE: The Bump, reigning WWE NXT UK Tag Team Champion, Wolfgang pitched the idea of a potential clash between New Day and his faction Gallus, claiming that he and his stablemates would love to square-off against The New Day. The currently-injured Xavier Woods has teased a return to action very soon and so this match could very soon be a reality.

Wolfgang's comments influenced me to put together a list of WWE factions who The New Day haven't faced yet - but should definitely compete against at some point in the future. Here are 5 WWE factions that Kingston, Big E and Woods have yet to face.

#5 Gallus

Gallus boys!

Needless to say, Gallus is pretty much the reason why I decided to put together this list and considering how dominant the trio has been on NXT UK over the past few months, a 6-man tag match against The New Day should definitely be something that WWE could consider within the next few months.

Now, of course, Gallus is still in their early-mid stages in NXT UK, however, the trio of Wolfgang, Mark, and Joe Coffey could turn out to be a real threat to The New Day. Gallus also captured the NXT UK Tag Titles last October and has held the straps for almost 250 days now.

A match against The New Day should be a really interesting affair.

#4 Andrade & Angel Garza (with Zelina Vega)

Zelina Vega's crew has made quite the statement on RAW this year.

Zelina Vega's faction has been making quite the noise on Monday Night RAW and has shown that they have the ability to match up well with The New Day. Zelina and her group were the hottest act on the red brand, at least during the initial phase of their formation. However, Vega's stable is currently a man down after Andrade and Angel Garza decided to cut ties with Austin Theory.

Since then, things have gone somewhat downhill for the group, as not only have they shrunk in number, but Andrade also lost the WWE United States Championship to Apollo Crews. Vega's stable initially seemed like WWE's very own version of Los Ingobernables but is currently somewhat struggling.

Now it does remain to be seen what plans WWE has for the faction and despite technically being a tag team, a feud against The New Day could be a fun outcome. With AJ Styles being traded to RAW, the trio of Kofi, Big E, and Woods could replace 'The Phenomenal One' on the red brand, as not only would it add much-needed star power to WWE RAW but provide some quality depth to the red brand's tag team division.

If the move does occur, then The New Day could get-off to a start with a feud against Andrade, Garza Jr. and Zelina Vega on RAW. The matches would indeed be 2-on-2 tag matches - but the promos between New Day and Zelina Vega would no doubt be a fun element of this potential feud.

#3 Imperium

Imperium has dominated the NXT UK scene

Imperium currently has quite the star power in their ranks and in my opinion, remains as the most underrated factions in all of WWE today - meaning that they would make excellent opponents for The New Day.

Imperium is led by reigning WWE UK Champion, WALTER, and is also home to reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner. Barthel and Aichner won the titles from Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher, who was a part of the original RINGKAMPF group on the independent circuit, from which Imperium was initially formed. The success that Imperium has enjoyed means that the audience would likely instantly accept them as credible challengers to The New Day.

The group also has a fourth member in former WWE SmackDown star Alexander Wolfe. Therefore, it's likely that Imperium will dominate any other faction in terms of the numbers game, at this point. However, that being said, The New Day is a group that definitely wouldn't back down from a fight, and a battle against Imperium would be must-see for many fans.

The UK based faction has made their presence known on the blue brand of SmackDown in the past when they decided to protect their home turn and ambush Heavy Machinery, a few months ago. So, the possibility of them popping up on SmackDown and targeting The New Day is certainly a genuine one.

After all, who wouldn't want to make a statement by taking out one of the most successful tag teams in SmackDown history?

#2 Seth Rollins and his disciples

Murphy, Rollins, and Theory.

You know what they say, one man's loss is another man's gain.

In this situation, it's one faction's loss and another faction's gain. A few weeks ago, Zelina Vega and her group decided to cut ties with Austin Theory, as they took out the former Evolve Champion, marking the end of his tenure with Vega's faction.

However, later the very same night, Seth Rollins received a surprise, as Theory decided to help the former and Murphy in taking out Aleister Black on RAW. This led to Rollins embracing with Theory and welcoming him into his faction. In bolstering his numbers, Rollins now has two men who could join him in a feud with The New Day.

Personally, I loved the decision to put someone as young as Austin Theory with Seth Rollins, and Murphy, who despite being in his early 30s, has experienced a lot in WWE so far. Also, with the absence of Akam and Rezar (AOP), Theory is a much-needed addition to Rollins' group.

And how could one possibly hate their cool attires? The trio look as though they belong as a faction, much like The New Day with their trademark matching gear.

A major threat to The New Day

Like I had previously mentioned, The New Day remains as the most experienced faction in all of WWE but despite Rollins' stable being in their early stages, I believe that on the main roster, 'The Monday Night Messiah' and his disciples are the biggest threat to Kofi and his stablemates, in terms of a faction Vs. faction war in WWE.

A feud between Rollins' new group and The New Day could produce some of the finest 6-man tag team matches in WWE history, something similar to what The Shield, Evolution, The Wyatt Family, and The O.C. have pulled-off in recent times.

#1 The Undisputed Era

The Undisputed Era in action against The New Day

Was there any doubt about this one? The New Day might be the most experienced group in WWE today but The Undisputed Era is arguably the best faction in all of WWE right now.

Ad

Ever since the group's formation in 2017, there haven't been many moments where The Undisputed Era has not had momentum on their side.

Led by reigning NXT Champion, Adam Cole, The Undisputed Era has dominated NXT for the past three years and has taken out anyone who dared to step in their path, running roughshod through the entire roster, and even taking out some of our favorite superstars in Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Johnny Gargano.

When it comes to factional wars, The Era boys even made their presence felt on UK soil by attacking Imperium at NXT TakeOver: Blackpool II and making a big statement. Well, if that wasn't enough, the group even completed their desired prophecy on the first live episode of NXT on USA Network when Roderick Strong won the NXT North American Championship.

The win meant that The Undisputed Era held all four available men's championship in NXT, with Cole as NXT Champion, Strong as North American Champion, and Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly as NXT Tag Team Champions.

When it comes to factional wars, The Undisputed Era has all the confidence in the world in their numbers and believes the mantra of ganging up on superstars that they wish to take out. With The New Day consisting of three members, it is a well known fact that Cole and his men would have no problem using the numbers game to their advantage, even if the two groups face-off in a 6-man tag team match.

As a matter of fact, a few months ago, The New Day had to team up with Heavy Machinery when The Undisputed Era made a few appearances on SmackDown However, the next time the two groups decide to clash, there is no need for a third party to involved and we could finally see a proper rivalry between The New Day and The Undisputed Era.

A match between the two top factions is something WWE fans have been wanting to witness for a while now and even NXT Champion, Adam Cole remains open to the dream clash between his group and The New Day. Let's hope this could turn to a possibility someday!
