Stomping Grounds could have been so much better!

5 Glaring Errors that WWE made at Stomping Grounds 2019

Stomping Grounds wasn't really built up like it was going to be one of WWE's biggest shows since much of the card was made up of rematches from previous pay-per-view events. Instead, many fans tuned into Stomping Grounds in the hopes that the lack of real build would mean that there would be plenty of excitement instead.

Whilst many of the matches on the card contained obvious botches, they were all solid matches and there isn't much that can be said for the standard of wrestling since the company chose a solid card, the main issues that they have come down to the way that they booked the show and the segments that should have been included.

Stomping Grounds could have been so much more, but instead, it will now be another pay-per-view that's forgotten before the end of the year.

#5. No Brock Lesnar tease as part of either World Championship match

Lesnar wasn't even backstage at Stomping Grounds last night

It was obvious that Brock Lesnar was not going to be part of WWE Stomping Grounds because The Beast's payday is so expensive that the company was not going to pay to have him make the trip to Washington just to tease another cash in.

This doesn't mean that the company couldn't tease that Lesnar was there and attempt to distract either Kofi Kingston or Seth Rollins. Paul Heyman was backstage last night and stated that Kingston is still on Lesnar's radar, so it would have been interesting even if was just that Lesnar's music hit and no one came out.

It's obvious that Lesnar won't be cashing in his case anytime soon, but the company needs to continue to remind fans that there's always a chance that he can appear and these kinds of teases are usually quite effective.

#4. The predictability of the main event

Lacey Evans didn't have any issues in the main event

WWE did a fantastic job making Lacey Evans the Special Guest Referee, given the fact that Seth Rollins couldn't take her out with a steel chair so he was then forced to follow her rules. The fact that she became the referee at the request of Baron Corbin made the match somewhat predictable throughout since almost every member of the WWE Universe on Twitter noted that Becky Lynch would make her way to the ring to take out Evans.

WWE pushed the fact that Rollins and Lynch were in a relationship throughout the show so it was obvious that it was building towards something, and when Lacey Evans came out, the company got their pay-off. Another issue here as well was the fact that Evans had only lost to Lynch a few hours before and she didn't show any signs that she had been in a match, which is just bad storytelling.

#3. Drew McIntyre's loss

Drew McIntyre shouldn't have lost as part of last night's show

Drew McIntyre helped Shane McMahon to defeat Roman Reigns at Super ShowDown a few weeks ago, but it didn't work out the same for The Scottish star at Stomping Grounds, instead, McIntyre was the one on the receiving end of a spear which has now set up a handicap match tonight on Raw.

According to reports, McIntyre was supposed to win the match, which would have made much more sense since Shane and Drew have been on top of Reigns in recent weeks and McIntyre is red hot right now. It's hard to imagine that one loss will ruin his current run, but it's worth questioning why Vince McMahon decided to change the match at the last minute and allow Reigns to win even though the odds were against him and this isn't the final match in their current feud.

#2. Overlooking the lack of crowd support

Lacey Evans wasn't a popular choice last night at Stomping Grounds

There are a number of images on Social Media that show that the crowd support in Washington last night was pretty thin. WWE tried everything to get the arena as full as possible which included free upgrades for many fans so that they were on the camera side of the arena.

Despite the lack of numbers, the crowd were still loud when they needed to be and where able to take the attention away from various matches. Washington is Daniel Bryan's hometown which is why the crowd were chanting for him throughout and took the spotlight away from Heavy Machinery.

The crowd also loudly chanted throughout the main event as they called for Becky Lynch to come in and take out Lacey Evans before the "Daniel Bryan" and "CM Punk" chants began and deflected the attention from the action in the ring once again.

#1. 24/7 Championship

Why wasn't R-Truth in Washington last night?

The 24/7 Championship has been the most exciting thing going on in WWE over the past few months but the company doesn't seem to want to include it as part of pay-per-views. It's hard to imagine that R-Truth would go all the way to Drake Maverick's wedding to take the Championship but he wouldn't be in attendance for a WWE show and could at least tease that the title could change hands.

Whilst the company played videos of the recent title change, there was no continuation of the storyline, which the company should have equalized on since Drake Maverick has to be absolutely fuming after the events that unfolded and he will be wanting a form of revenge on R-Truth. There has been no official reason released when it comes to why the company hasn't included the title in recent pay-per-views, so it should have been defended last night.
