5 Injured Superstars who'll probably never wrestle for WWE again

Injuries are an unavoidable aspect of the wrestling business and something that any active wrestler knows can happen to them at any time. However, most wrestlers won't be expecting to have their in-ring careers ended.

It's happened to the likes of Daniel Bryan and Edge in recent memory, with both having to deliver heartfelt retirement speeches after picking up career-ending injuries. Of course, one has now returned to wrestling full-time and there's buzz that the other might return any moment now.

But sadly, unlike Daniel Bryan and Edge other WWE Superstars may not be so lucky. There are a few WWE Superstars who have yet to return to the ring after suffering an injury and now probably won't even return at all.

Let's take a look at who that might be.

Paige will probably never return

Paige was just announced as signing a new deal on WWE Backstage this week, a show that she co-hosts alongside Christian, Booker T and Renee Young (and now also CM Punk).

This is the latest in a line of onscreen roles since Paige had to announce her retirement from in-ring competition after suffering from an injury during a house show match. She has been the General Manager of SmackDown and the manager of women's tag-team The Kabuki Warriors.

A rumour did start up a couple of weeks ago that WWE were preparing for Paige's imminent return to the ring suggesting that the angle with Asuka misting Paige was a way to get there, but this was quickly shot down by the Superstar herself.

As you can see Paige reasserts that one more knock to the neck could spell disaster for her, so he couldn't be further from being cleared to wrestle.

The fact that she's signed a new deal with WWE means we're probably going to see Paige on our screens for a long time to come, we just won't see her taking any bumps!

#4 Tino Sabbatelli

Sabbatelli has been away a long, long time

Updates on Tino Sabbatelli's condition following surgery for a torn pectoral muscle way back in April 2018 have been few and far between with the promising NXT Superstar's wrestling career slowly slipping away from the spotlight.

It's been over a year and a half since Sabbatelli has been gone from NXT now and his former tag-team partner Riddick Moss has moved on with a new stable in The Outliers (with Dan Matha and Robert Stone)

So where is Sabbatelli and when will he be back? Well, the last update I can find on his recovery process, which was in January 2019 is horrendous news.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Sabbatelli was having issues similar to our next entry on this list (Jason Jordan) in recovering and would likely not return to in-ring action as a result, with plans to possible transition him towards commentary on NXT.

#3 Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan is never going to wrestle again

Yep, we mentioned him just a minute ago on the Tino Sabbatelli page so we'll get to Jason Jordan next. Jordan was an incredibly promising athlete in the ring and was almost hand-picked by WWE to be sling-shot up the card.

He was announced as Kurt Angle's son and ended up on the main roster rubbing shoulders with the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and The Authority before his run was cut short by an untimely neck injury.

Jordan had surgery in January 2018 and has been off the radar since then, although every report that has surfaced has indicated that Jordan will never return to the ring. The Superstar has since transitioned into a backstage producing role and is reportedly present during most creative meetings.

It is a shame that Jordan's career was cut-short, even if his in-ring character might not have been the most popular at the time of his injury, he certainly looked like an extremely talented future star.

#2 Kacy Catanzaro

Kacy Catanzaro's in-ring future is still very much up in the air after a report from Casey Michael from Squared Circle Sirens suggested she was done with WWE and would likely never wrestle again due to an injury scare.

This was quickly refuted by many people including Catanzaro's own partner and fellow WWE Superstar, Ricochet, who said that she was definitely still with WWE but was taking some time to weigh up her options.

However the former American Ninja Warrior competitor''s last match was June 13th, 2019 against Io Shirai and she has not wrestled on TV since or even been present at the tapings. WWE have even quietly removed her from the NXT active competitor list.

Catanzaro did get the chance to show off some of her incredible athletic ability and agility, most notably in a great, albeit short, match against Rhea Rhipley in the Mae Young Classic and a memorable Royal Rumble elimination escape.

#1 Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy might not return to WWE, at least any time soon
Ad

Jeff Hardy is unique in this list in that it isn't necessarily his injury problems that might prevent him from returning to the ring but rather the re-emergence of personal issues that have plagued the iconic WWE Superstar before.

Earlier this month we reported that WWE weren't planning on bringing Jeff Hardy back to the ring even after he's cleared for ring-action following his surgery and subsequent recovery to allow him time to 'take care of his personal issues'

Hopefully Jeff Hardy and get the support he needs to overcome them and WWE can make plans for him to return because there still hasn't quite been a moment like that surprise Hardy Boyz return at WrestleMania.
