5 Interesting angles involving Finn Balor that must happen in WWE – Much-awaited reunion, big revenge match in the making, and more

Finn Balor is, without a doubt, one of the most talented Superstars in WWE today. He has the perfect amalgamation of in-ring skills and charismatic persona – something that performers need to put up a good spectacle. While Balor is enjoying his time on NXT, one can’t help but think a few possible storylines that will allow Balor to explore his full potential in WWE.

#5 Finn Balor joins forces with The Undisputed Era

This alliance will surely dominate on WWE NXT

After Finn Balor won the WWE NXT Championship, two of his best defenses were against Kyle O’Reilly. Both Superstars shared brilliant chemistry inside the ring, and their in-ring battle exceeded all expectations. In fact, Balor even acknowledged both his matches and looked beyond satisfied with the performances.

Finn Balor was equally brilliant in his feud with Adam Cole, especially if you consider that both these Superstars were heels at the time. Owing to the history shared between all these Superstars that dates back to their pre-WWE days, it would be fair to say that all the members of The Undisputed Era will work very well alongside Balor.

This is something that fans have wanted to see ever since Finn Balor returned to NXT. Currently, he is feuding with Pete Dunne, and both are bound to lock horns in a title match at the upcoming TakeOver in February. Their ongoing rivalry has also seen the likes of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch involved which stacked the odds against Balor.

However, it was The Undisputed Era that came to Finn Balor’s aid, and now, he is set to team up with Kyle O’Reilly for a tag team match against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Given that Balor has already done what he needed to do with his second championship reign with the NXT title, it won’t be a surprise to see him lose his title to Dunne.

Once that happens, he will be free to work alongside The Undisputed Era. That will benefit each of The Undisputed Era members as Finn Balor is one of those performers who elevate anyone who shares the ring with him. It will also account for engaging segments and epic moments on NXT, which the Black and Gold brand needs on Wednesday nights.

#4 Finn Balor feuds with Adam Cole for the leadership of The Undisputed Era

This feud could be huge for Adam Cole in WWE

Finn Balor’s alliance with The Undisputed Era is bound to create an extremely engaging storyline on NXT. That said, we all know that this will eventually come to an end. It will make for a great booking if WWE decides to show friction between Adam Cole and Finn Balor over the group's leadership.

It is easy to see that this would be a perfect set-up for a storyline that will get fans excited over Finn Balor once again. Adam Cole could be shown as someone who is frustrated at losing his grip over a group that belongs to him. He would blame Balor for hurting his relationship, and that would eventually create a small rift in the group.

Adam Cole would be adamant about restoring the unity of the group, and Finn Balor could become his target. Both Superstars will then battle for supremacy, and this storyline could have jealousy, betrayals, drama, heartbreaks, and revenge. Eventually, Adam Cole would come out on top, and Balor will be forced out of this alliance. Realistically, this feud wouldn’t even need a title to keep it interesting. That said, it will be the kind of long-term booking that NXT thrives upon.

#3 Finn Balor’s ‘Prince’ reunites with AJ Styles on the main roster

These two Superstars will be brilliant together

Ever since he turned heel, Finn Balor has been nothing short of brilliant. He has looked better than ever, which makes you think about what could have happened if he was booked on the main roster in a similar fashion. If Balor leaves NXT to return to the main roster, he should come back as the ‘Prince’.

Not only that, but Finn Balor should also come back and then align forces with AJ Styles. Both these Superstars have a long history and unbelievable chemistry that will account for a brilliant storyline. To put things into perspective, these two Superstars delivered one of the best matches of the year at TLC 2017, and it was booked just a few hours before the show. (More on that in the next slide).

The WWE fans always knew that Finn Balor and AJ Styles would work very well together. Once we saw them inside the ring, there was no doubt left about iconic moments that they can create together. For the time, they are both heels, but they are on different brands. They should be allowed to come together and tear through the roster as dominant villains who back their talk with incredible in-ring talent.

#2 Finn Balor returns for revenge against The Fiend as The Demon King

This battle between two supernatural gimmicks has been in the making for a long time

At the TLC pay-per-view mentioned in the last slide, Finn Balor was originally scheduled to face Bray Wyatt’s alter-ego, Sister Abigail. However, the latter was ruled out of action owing to medical reasons. But that’s not the only reason why Balor needs his revenge against Bray Wyatt. Back when Balor decided to take time off, he was booked to face The Fiend.

At SummerSlam, Finn Balor fell prey to The Fiend and lost in an underwhelming fashion. Following that, Balor stepped away from in-ring action and eventually returned to NXT. That said, his match against The Fiend and his previous feuds with Bray Wyatt have set the premise for a brilliant revenge match that should be booked somewhere down the line.

Only this time, Finn Balor should return to face The Fiend as The Demon King. The good thing about Balor’s alter-ego is that it is protected well by WWE and is brought out on rare occasions. This is one of those matches that screams for The Demon King to come back and make his presence known as one of the finest supernatural gimmicks in modern-day WWE.

#1 Finn Balor goes after the title that he never truly lost

Finn Balor deserves to win the Universal Championship again
Ad

Finn Balor was the first Universal Champion in WWE history, and he was forced to relinquish his title on WWE RAW after he sustained a serious injury in the same match. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that this was one of the most unfortunate events in recent memory. It was a title that Balor never lost. Thus, he deserves to get back to his best form and fight for the gold once again.

It is evident that Finn Balor will have to fight through some of the biggest names in the business in order to make a claim for the title. At the same time, he is someone who perfectly capable of doing that in a convincing fashion. As long as he is booked in a manner that plays to his strength, Balor will always be a huge threat in the Universal Championship picture.

The only thing that the creative need to avoid with respect to Finn Balor is to show him as a vanilla babyface. He is an incredible performer and can be trusted to carry himself through the most relentless feuds. Hopefully, we will see Finn Balor involved in such storylines before the 39-year-old Superstar inevitably starts to fall from his prime.
