5 little known facts about WWE's Seth Rollins

Colby Lopez was born on May 28, 1986. Currently known as Seth Rollins in WWE and around the wrestling world, he was famous as Tyler Black before making it to the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

Having performed on many different small and large promotions before entering the WWE, he was always destined for great things and has developed into one of the best wrestlers in the world today.

This has allowed him to gain a lot of success in the WWE, and upon capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2015, he became the first wrestler of Armenian descent to hold the title.

Famous for being one-third of The Shield before the departure of Dean Ambrose, there have been many facts about Seth Rollins which fans have dug up in order to get to know the superstar better.

#5 Rollins started his career at a very young age

For WWE Superstars, starting at a young age is no news as they spend years and years practicing and perfecting the skills and moves they perform in the ring. WWE only picks the top superstars, and therefore most of its superstars start training in their teens.

Similarly, Rollins started wrestling at the age of 14. He was extremely passionate about the sport and used to wrestle in his backyard where he even hosted a few shows.

Rollins began training at a wrestling school owned by Danny Daniels on the border of Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois.

Aged 19, Rollins debuted in 2005 for Scott County Wrestling (SCW). He wrestled on the independent circuit mainly and was also recruited by Ring of Honour.

After attending his first WrestleMania event in 2006, he became ambitious enough to vow to attend the next WrestleMania as not just a fan, but a superstar.

Currently, Rollins has featured in a number of WrestleMania events for the WWE as a star attraction.

#4 He’s a metal-head

WWE is no short of men and women who love rock music. We know that superstars such as Edge, Christian, Braun Strowman, and Baron Corbin are huge fans of rock music and have mentioned time and time again how the music inspires them to work out more in the gym.

Many of the superstars have even connected with their favorite songs and bands by making them a part of their entrance theme. Edge’s iconic entrance theme, Metallingus, is performed by the rock band, Alter Bridge, while Christian’s theme was from the band, Story of The Year. Corbin’s entrance theme has vocals provided by Bad Wolves' frontman and former vocalist of Snot and Divine Heresy, Tommy Vext.

Similarly, Seth Rollins is also a fan of heavy music and has revealed that he’s the most metal wrestler in the WWE other than Chris Jericho.

Rollins' entrance music over the years has included numerous examples of the genre, including songs from Haste the Day, War of Ages, and Walls of Jericho.

“I love Misery Signals, Of Malice And The Magnum Heart is one of my favorite records of all time,” says Seth Rollins, who currently has one of the heaviest entrance songs in WWE.

Many fans still aren’t aware of the fact that Rollins’ current ring name is a tribute to Henry Rollins, singer of the hardcore band Black Flag, which is his favorite band.

#3 He didn’t know about his Money in the Bank cash-in before the WrestleMania event began

At WrestleMania 31, Seth Rollins pulled off the heist of the century in front of over 75,000 fans. The unpredictability of wrestling is what makes it different and unique as compared to many other sports.

In 2014, Rollins won the Money in the Bank ladder match by retrieving the briefcase with the help of Kane. He held the briefcase for the entire year and waited for the right time to strike.

At WrestleMania 31, he took on Randy Orton in a single’s match which saw both men kick out of each other’s finishers at least once. Orton eventually won the match after a second RKO, which was given additional elevation as Orton countered Rollins' Curb Stomp by propelling Rollins up in the air. The RKO is rated as one of the best we’ve ever seen.

Even though Rollins lost at WrestleMania and believed the night was over for him, he barely knew what was waiting for him.

He was informed about his cash-in plans less than an hour before the main event which saw Brock Lesnar defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. Rollins cashed in his briefcase at the right moment in the match, and the rest is history.

#2 Rollins owns a wrestling school

While Seth Rollins is best friends on television with his Shield-brothers, Marek Brave is one of his best friends outside the WWE.

In case you didn’t know, Marek Brave is best known for teaming up with Seth Rollins (then known as Tyler Black) as the Black and the Brave, holding the AAW World Tag Team Titles as well as the NWA Midwest Tag Team Titles.

In 2013, the two men started The Black & The Brave Wrestling Academy, a professional wrestling school in Moline, Illinois.

Rollins and fellow trainers offer a US$3500 12-week crash course, preparing wrestling novices for the ring. Students train five hours per day, three days per week, often with Rollins himself.

While Rollins continues to tear it up in the squared circle and has become the face of WWE, Brave retired from pro wrestling due to a neck injury in April 2017. He now is the main trainer of the Black and Brave Wrestling School.

The superstar has also ventured into other businesses, and in February 2019 opened a coffee shop called 329 Dport in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa.

#1 He’s the only superstar to win all the big ones

While fans always love to draw comparisons between two WWE legends, Ric Flair & John Cena, due to their 16 World Championship wins, there are only a handful of men today who we can even imagine reaching that feat.

With the expansion of the WWE roster and the introduction of more star faces, WWE has tried to rotate the title belts evenly between its top superstars.

Even though that is the case, Seth Rollins has been one of the luckiest superstars as he has managed to win all the big belts wherever he has been positioned in WWE.

Starting off in NXT, Rollins became the inaugural NXT Champion and was the only member of The Shield to win the title. Moving to the main roster has seen him reach even new heights, as he has won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (currently known as the WWE Championship) twice, and the Universal Championship once.

Apart from that, he has also won the United States Championship once, the Intercontinental Championship twice, and the Raw Tag Team Championships no less than four times.

He's the only superstar to hold the WWE Championship and the United States Championship at the same time. This has allowed him to win eleven championships in the company already, and he’s just getting started.

The current Universal Champion has also won the Money in the Bank briefcase and the Royal Rumble once each.
