#5 Roman Reigns' reign is special and WWE wants to keep it that way

It is hilarious how one can look at the way Roman Reigns is presented now and praise his booking because a few years ago, nobody bought into the idea of 'The Big Dog' as 'the guy'.

Paul Heyman entered Roman Reigns' life, causing him to turn heel, and suddenly, Reigns became the most exciting star in the entire WWE roster. People were shocked that underneath the white-meat babyface character that nobody bought into, lay this conniving, vicious, deplorable heel. The Tribal Chief assumed his throne and the wrestling world hasn't been the same since that day.

WWE does not want to curtail the momentum they have in Roman Reigns' case, which is why they had him beat two top-class opponents. The central narrative on SmackDown, right now, is who can finally defeat The Big Dog?

#4 Roman Reigns' future in the business as compared to Edge and Daniel Bryan

Roman Reigns is 'the guy', meaning that he's going to be the face of the company for a very long time. That is why so much time, effort, money, and brainpower is being expended into making The Tribal Chief look like a million dollars every time he comes out to compete.

Edge may have returned to the ring, but he's a seasoned veteran by now and his best days are behind him. He may have many great matches left in him, but one can say with certainty that barring injuries, Roman Reigns will be a far more regular performer.

Daniel Bryan has been very vocal about the fact that he wants to retire and spend more time with his family. It would not have been the right call for him to defeat someone with as much momentum as Roman Reigns.

To borrow a catchphrase, for Roman Reigns to defeat both his opponents was a way for the company to 'acknowledge him'.

#3 Is Big E vs. Roman Reigns a storyline that we're headed towards next?

Roman Reigns vs. Big E is certain to be a big-ticket feud sooner or later. In fact, with Big E losing the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 37, chances are that 'sooner' is the more relevant scenario, in this case.

WWE clearly has big plans for Big E after having him split from The New Day. Honestly, the only thing bigger than holding the Intercontinental Championship is a potential feud with the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Well, at least on the WWE SmackDown brand, that is.

Roman Reigns and Big E will not fly around like Ricochet and Cedric Alexander and neither will they have a technical masterclass in the vein of a Drew Gulak match. This will be a slugfest when it happens, between two powerhouses, each primed to be the future of the company.

Maybe Roman Reigns did not drop the Universal Championship so that we are blessed with this feud at some point down the line and maybe even immediately after WrestleMania!

#2 Maybe Cesaro has a shot at Roman Reigns next?

Is Cesaro ready for Roman Reigns? One would have to imagine that after WWE finally got it right with Cesaro at WrestleMania, where he defeated Seth Rollins in arguably the second-best match across both nights (is anyone surprised, really?), his career trajectory will only point upward. And the only place to go after knocking Seth Rollins out is for the jugular of his Shield-mate, Roman Reigns!

Imagine the masterpiece that Cesaro and Roman Reigns can create when they work against each other. Here are two of the best professional wrestlers in the world, each known to be a powerhouse in their own right. Roman Reigns elevates everyone he works with. Maybe he can do for Cesaro what he did for Jey Uso!

It is unlikely that Cesaro will be the man to dethrone Roman Reigns from atop his perch as the Universal Champion, but for him to even be in the title picture is a big step up. One could even say that it is long overdue.

#1 There's still a Universal Championship storyline with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar yet to be explored

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar was a money feud back when the former was a babyface that fans did not buy into, and the latter went into the contest as the heel. It will be an even bigger feud when/if heel Roman Reigns is confronted by Brock Lesnar next.

This is a feud that former WWE head writer, Vince Russo, talks about in great detail in our exclusive Sportskeeda series entitled 'Writing with Russo'. Do check out the video above for his thoughts on Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar, and share your own views below.

Many have said that they want a Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar match on RAW, but let's be honest. The real money match is Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar, especially since Paul Heyman has traditionally been associated with the latter until recently.

The question of Paul Heyman's loyalty will be the biggest hook going into such a feud. Roman Reigns shouldn't lose the Universal Championship until this contest happens.
