Rollins on the Mount Rushmore?

5 reasons Seth Rollins is the true face of WWE, not Roman Reigns

It has been a long while since Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble match earlier this year by eliminating The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, in the closing moments. Ever since then, Rollins' stars only rose and he suddenly became the top Champion of WWE when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35.

Rollins has successfully defended his Universal Title ever since he slayed The Beast at The Show of Shows. At the moment, Rollins is the biggest Superstar on Monday Night Raw and holds the top Championship on the brand. 'The Beastslayer' truly became the flagbearer of the red show when Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown Live in what many dubbed as being "the biggest acquisition in SmackDown Live history".

At this point, it is as clear as a day that WWE is pushing Seth Rollins to no end, and The Architect is all set to lead the WWE roster for years to come. Let's look at 5 reasons why Rollins is the true face of WWE, not Roman Reigns:

#5 Has been incredibly popular since last year's WrestleMania

Rollins isn't someone who has just come out of the blue and is getting handed title shots one after the other. He proved himself as an amazing heel when he betrayed The Shield back in 2014, and thus his rise to stardom kicked off. It didn't take long for him to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion, as he bagged the belt by pinning Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 31.

On the Raw after WrestleMania 34, he came out as the new Intercontinental Champion and the crowd erupted like never before. The reaction he got that night was a sign for WWE to push him as a major babyface moving forward, and thankfully, they did.

#4 Defended the company against a dear friend's comments

Rollins recently got into a Twitter war with NJPW's Will Ospreay when he defended WWE's product on Twitter, calling it "the best pro wrestling company on the planet". Rollins kept at it for a long while and received flak from Twitterati, wrestlers, and dirtsheets, but he didn't budge one bit.

Later, Rollins spoke about Jon Moxley's criticism of WWE and went on to throw shade at one of his closest friends for speaking ill of the company that helped him become a megastar. When one goes to such lengths to defend the company they're working for, it is a clear sign that they are someone who can be trusted to be the face of the company for a long time to come.

There's a big possibility that Rollins was instructed by the higher-ups to hit back at Moxley's comments, but the fact that he actually went ahead with it speaks volumes about him genuinely caring about WWE and wanting others to respect what it produces on a weekly basis without ever stopping.

#3 WWE will hesitate to rely on Reigns again

This is an incredibly unfortunate scenario, but there's no going around it. Reigns was pushed by WWE as a huge babyface, but the plan backfired gloriously. WWE didn't stop though, as Reigns went on to compete in four consecutive WrestleMania main event matches against the likes of Triple H, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. Last year, Reigns had to leave the company to resume his battle with leukemia.

This was a major wake-up call for the company, and made it realize that it's a bad idea to put all its eggs in one basket. The landscape of WWE changed completely when Reigns was drafted to the 'B-show', leaving Rollins as the only guy to rule over Monday Night Raw. As much as it stings, WWE might not take the risk of pushing Reigns as the top babyface again. That leaves possibly the most popular guy on the roster to be pushed instead, and that's exactly what WWE is doing with Rollins.

#2 Ended the reign of terror

Brock Lesnar

When Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012, fans went bananas and couldn't believe that The Beast had actually come back. The excitement didn't last long though. Lesnar's mainstream popularity earned him possibly the most perk-filled contract ever. This resulted in him being absent from Monday Night Raw for weeks, and sometimes months on end. The Universal Title turned into an afterthought and the Intercontinental Title somehow became the major belt in fans' eyes.

This was another reason why Rollins received that thunderous pop on the night after WrestleMania 34. The fan-favorite wrestler was holding the belt that the fans had deemed the top title on Raw. Rollins finally did what the likes of Reigns and Goldberg couldn't do. He defeated Lesnar at 'Mania and became the Universal Champion, ending Brock Lesnar's "reign of terror", a moniker given to him by the fans who had grown tired of his rare appearances on Raw.

#1 Rollins is the complete package and gets genuine cheers

When you compare the top faces of several eras, you notice a stark difference. The likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, and Hulk Hogan used to get genuine, positive cheers. On the other hand, the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns always used to get mixed reactions, earning them the moniker of being the most controversial Superstars in recent history.

Rollins gets actual positive cheers from the WWE Universe, who are aware of the fact that he has earned his spot through years of hard work, and hasn't been shoved down their throats by WWE.

Additionally, Rollins is regarded by many as one of the best wrestlers in the business at the moment. Plus, he can hold his own on the mic and has proved this fact several times in the past. These factors make him the biggest contender for being the face of WWE at the moment, as well as for a long time to come.
