5 Reasons why Seth Rollins used the low blows on Brock Lesnar

Just like every other go-home episode of Monday Night RAW before a pay-per-view, we had the champions and the champion in the ring. And just like every other go-home episode before WrestleMania in the last couple of years, it looked like Brock Lesnar was going to stand tall after crushing his opponent.

But that wasn't the case tonight. The Beast Incarnate was left helpless in the ring by Seth Rollins and it was a shocker! The King Slayer used the low blow twice on the WWE Universal Champion and also used the stomp.

As he went backstage, Charly Caruso pointed out that if he used the low-blows Brock on Sunday, he could get disqualified. “Eh. He had it coming” was the short reply from the Architect before saying that he is not the champion...yet.

Here are 5 possible reasons why Rollins used the low-blow on Brock Lesnar:

#5 Adding heat to the match

Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar was booked for WrestleMania in January itself but there was very little build up to it till now.

The Architect's back injury was the main reason for it and there was very little he and Lesnar could do in the ring to add more heat ahead of the match.

WWE needed to do something to get things going between the two ahead of the match and this was the best way possible. Having Lesnar beat down Rollins would have got the WWE Universe nothing different and there would have been more boos for the Universal champion.

So, to give the WWE Universe what they wanted and also add more heat to the match, Rollins had to use the low-blows.

#4 To show Seth Rollins will go to any extent to win

Seth Rollins can go to any extent to succeed in WWE

Seth Rollins can go to any extent to succeed in WWE. We have seen it before – turning his back on The Shield and joining The Authority – and we might be seeing it one more time.

The Architect has only one goal in mind right now and that is to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and become the best WWE Universal champion. And to do this, Rollins has to give more than his 100%.

However, the issue is that Seth is still recovering from his back issue and this move today was a way to get some momentum, and also some advantage over Brock ahead of their match. Beating a fully fit Lesnar is a difficult job and thus, Seth Rollins had to do something to make sure that the champion does not walk into WrestleMania in good shape.

#3 Turning Seth Rollins heel...soon

Seth Rollins as a heel is something the McMahons would love to have once again

Seth Rollins goes into his match vs Brock Lesnar as the babyface but what if that is not the plan for him after WrestleMania? While Rollins is over with the WWE Universe right now and is slowly becoming the face of the company.

However, Seth Rollins as a heel is something the McMahons would love to have once again and if that's what they are planning, today's episode might just be the beginning of the slow slide towards turning him heel again.

After WrestleMania, there is a very good opportunity to make Rollins a heel again and that would involve Roman Reigns – someone Vince McMahon has been trying to push as the face of WWE but just not able to make it as John Cena did.

But looking at things, Rollins turning heel will take a long time but somehow, it feels like today's actions were a part of the plans for the future.

#2 Making the match a No DQ bout

Could we see a change in stipulations?
Ad

Ever since Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar was made official after the Royal Rumble, there has been nothing to add in this feud or match. The stipulation, the buildup and even the outcome to an extent is something that the WWE Universe can think of without digging deep.

It's just been the same old story so far and to make things interesting, WWE might just go ahead and make this a No Disqualifications match. Rollins' actions today are not going to go down well with Lesnar and he will do all he can to physically hurt Seth at the show of all shows.

And to make sure that he doesn't get disqualified in the process, making the match a No DQ is the only way. Timing is running out but one thing is clear if this stipulation is made official, this match just got a lot more exciting!

#1 Showing that Brock Lesnar can be beaten

Let's be honest here. There are just a couple of WWE Superstars in the locker room today who can actually beat Brock Lesnar.

Just look at the list of opponents he faced since his return and he has demolished every single one of them. John Cena, AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Braun Strowman, The Undertaker and even Seth Rollins have all tried to beat the Beast Incarnate but have just not been able to.

But for all of Lesnar's power and intrigue, there has to be someone who can beat him. And for WWE, right now, that has to be Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. He is currently the new face of the company and there is no one better in the locker room right now to be the WWE Universal Champion.
