5 Reasons why The Undertaker shouldn't have saved Roman Reigns

On the episode of Raw after Stomping Grounds, Roman Reigns was scheduled to face Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a handicap match. It was evident that Reigns was going to receive the beating of a lifetime after coming up victorious again Drew McIntyre on the previous night.

While this has made a huge buzz across social media and has broken the internet, the move of including The Undertaker into this feud along with Roman Reigns doesn't quite sync in. Many things seem to be off about this mix and here we delve into why it is so.

On the latest episode of Raw while McMahon and The Irish Psychopath were beating down a helpless Reigns, we heard a familiar gong and the lights went out. When they came back on, we couldn't believe what we saw. The Deadman had risen and had come to the aid of who once was his WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns.

#5 Makes no sense

WWE should be given full points for unpredictability with this move. But many of the viewers would want to try and make sense of this. Of all people, why would The Undertaker come out to save The Big Dog. The two men neither have had a bond nor have they ever been on the same page at any point of time.

The Shield has come out and attacked The Phenom in the past, Roman Reigns eliminated Taker from the 2017 Royal Rumble and he also beat Taker at The Grandest Stage of Them All later in the same year. There is no reason for The Undertaker of all people to come out and save Reigns from a beat down. Furthermore, it would have made more sense and maybe more of an impact had we seen Reigns' cousin, The Rock come out and make the save.

#4 Weak Storyline

How it all began

This entire storyline started with the most recent Superstar Shake-Up when Vince McMahon announced Elias as the Greatest Acquisition in SmackDown history. Not to everyone's surprise, Roman Reigns rained on Elias's parade and pounced on McMahon with a Superman Punch.

In the following weeks, Shane McMahon, being a great son, avenged his father's humiliation by attacking Reigns and joining forces with Drew McIntyre. Ever since, this feud just seems to be never-ending. At Stomping Grounds, when Reigns beat McIntyre, the fans thought that this feud was done with. But to their dismay, Reigns was pitted against Shane and McIntyre in a handicap match the following night.

A feud of this calibre, that should have been ended, didn't need The Undertaker to be injected into it. This move has certainly helped in pushing this feud on until another PPV but does this feud really need to go on any longer?

#3 Drew McIntyre's career

The Scottish Psychopath has seen better days

The case of Drew McIntyre has been a mystery. He was once involved in the Universal Championship picture but he is nowhere near a Title opportunity. McIntyre is yet to win a singles Title since his return to the main roster in WWE. The hype around McIntyre seems to be dying because of his consistent losses to The Shield and its members.

McIntyre has won matches on Raw and SmackDown but when was the last time he won a high profile match on a PPV? Not only is he being wasted in this feud but also won't have anything going for him once he is done with it.

Inclusion of The Undertaker now almost solidifies a victory for himself and Reigns at Extreme Rules unless WWE pulls out a swerve and make this storyline go further. WWE can do so much more with McIntyre and seeing him being used the way he is, is disappointing.

#2 Part-time status

Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon have made quite a few enemies

There have got to be many Superstars in the locker room who hate McIntyre and Shane. Any of these Superstars could have been given a chance over The Undertaker. No doubt that the insertion of The Undertaker brings in many viewers, but that opportunity could have been given to someone such as Heath Slater or The Miz.

Drew McIntyre attacked Heath Slater last week when Slater interrupted Shane's party on Raw. This should have been used as a reason to give someone such as 'The Man With Kids' an opening to make an impact. The match definitely wouldn't have been as high profile as it is building up to be right now, but this would have shown a shift in WWE's approach to its current pool of talent.

Slater is an amazing babyface and his alliance with Reigns would have made complete sense. This would also ensure that Slater would have come into the limelight of the WWE Universe and impress the fans all over the world.

It's time The Undertaker retires

The Undertaker does have an aura around him but till when will WWE ride on his name? It's time for WWE to realise that it's time for the part-timers to move away from the product and make place for the up and coming Superstars of tomorrow.

The past few matches that The Deadman has had have not lived up to the fans' expectations. Many fans have gone out on a limb and requested WWE to not include him in matches. Age has caught up with the man who was once many's childhood hero. He may train and look in better shape than he did from a few months ago, but the fans around the world have noticed that he isn't the same Undertaker they have grown up watching.

It's time for The Phenom to hang up his boots and ride into the sunset. Fans are really worried about his health and one botch may lead to many consequences that can easily be avoided.
