5 Signs that conclusively prove that Daniel Bryan was behind the attacks on Roman Reigns

Anyone who likes to read about professional wrestling, especially WWE has definitely someday dreamed of performing under the bright lights as a member of the WWE roster. Similarly, most of us, WWE fans or not, have dreamed of being private eyes, following in the footsteps of Holmes and Poirot.

While fans are glued to the second season of Mindhunter on Netflix, the WWE Universe is curious to find out who it was that attacked Roman Reigns in all those backstage segments. I have a feeling that the culprit who is ultimately unmasked will be someone we've suspected all along - Daniel Bryan, with his aide Rowan.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you agree or indeed disagree with my assessment. I'd be curious to find out what you think of the mystery and the 'reveal', so to speak.

Would you be happy if it turns out to be someone else?

#5 Throwing red herrings our way

There's no way that the man who was unmasked as the Erick Rowan lookalike is going to eventually turn out to be the man who attacked Roman Reigns. I mean let's begin with the fact that there's no backstory there at all, and even though he may look like a pro wrestler, chances are that he isn't one at all. It's just a red herring thrown our way from Daniel Bryan forcing us to look elsewhere for the actual culprit.

And because Bryan is sending us on such a wild goose chase, chances are that it's going to be him who was the mastermind behind everything that's been happening with Roman Reigns over the past few weeks. Bear in mind that Buddy Murphy did not send us on a wild goose chase and alluded to the fact that Rowan was at the scene of the crime of the Reigns incident. Bryan is lying!

#4 The report from Sportskeeda's own Tom Colohue

Not long ago, Sportskeeda's own Tom Colohue first reported that Eric Bischoff was very high on Daniel Bryan. So much so that he wanted him back in the main event picture once again. This is what Colohue's source told him:

“Daniel Bryan does great work in wrestling and in promos. Eric respects that. He wants to see a lot more of it. Bryan’s going up the card for sure.”

It does certainly seem like Daniel Bryan is back on track when it comes to being the most important component of SmackDown Live again. It does not matter what the main event match of the blue brand is, the fact of the matter is that Roman Reigns' segments go on after they air. Which essentially means that Roman Reigns' storyline is, in a way, the most important thing on the show. It's even more important than the WWE Championship picture in a sense, all said and done!

Everything that has panned out on TV so far seems to indicate that Daniel Bryan is the culprit in this particular scenario.

#3 Removal of Bryan and Rowan from the Tag Team title picture

Not long ago, Daniel Bryan and Rowan were the SmackDown Tag Team Champions and at least, in my eyes, they can have a great feud with The New Day if they're given the chance to do so. But the fact that they've been pulled out of the Tag Team picture indicates that they're being kept for something else, presumably the Roman Reigns storyline.

So much so that The Revival had to come to SmackDown Live from RAW to feud with The New Day. This leads me to believe that Vince McMahon does not want Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan anywhere near the tag team title picture.

We know what Vince McMahon essentially thinks of the Tag Team Championships from the fact that he made Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman Champions, essentially burying the entire division. The singles division will always be superior to the tag team one.

Hence, a main event push like Colohue indicated basically means a singles push, in other words.

#2 The plans for Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan to feud in September

We're sorry if we're spoiling this news ahead of schedule for you, but this is the clearest indicator of the fact that Daniel Bryan is responsible for the attacks on The Big Dog, and nobody else. It was recently revealed that Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns are scheduled to take each other on in two singles matches at WWE Live Events, following SummerSlam. One of these matches is at Madison Square Garden while the other is in Prescott Valley.

Both of these matches are scheduled for September leading us to believe that the culprit should be unmasked sooner than later. I'd go so far as to say that he may be unmasked on next week's show if you consider the way that things have lined up. Considering both men are major attractions, I'm certain that this is going to be a huge treat for fans.

It's almost a certainty that the massive Erick Rowan will be at ringside, trying to take Reigns out when the referee's attention is diverted. The former Bludgeon Brother is a huge asset to have, especially when you want to carry out backstage attacks.

#1 Only big feud that does not need a Championship on the line

When Clash of Champions comes around, it is very clear that Kofi Kingston will be feuding with Randy Orton and Seth Rollins with Braun Strowman. The concept of the night is such that every major Championship will be on the line in title matches, which should make for some very entertaining 'clashes' of these extremely gifted Champions.

Basically, what that means is that Roman Reigns and his attacker will have to wrestle in a match where there is no title on the line at all. Daniel Bryan is the only such person, who's currently not involved in a storyline who can warrant such a big match, where no title is required.

Daniel Bryan as a heel will also help get Roman Reigns over as a babyface. We all saw how he got the crowd to chant for Buddy Murphy by putting on an exciting contest, where he kept things on the ground, allowing Murphy to do all the flashy stuff.

Daniel Bryan is an underappreciated gem, in so many ways.
