Roman Reigns IS NEXT!

5 Signs that Goldberg won't defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36

The rumors were true! I know many of you aren't very happy with the way this match was set up due to "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt having to take a hit for it, but it's about time we get over it and focus on what we have in front of us - Goldberg vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36 for the Universal Championship.

WWE pretty much confirmed it in the opening segment of the SmackDown after WWE Super ShowDown by having the Big Dog come out to confront the Universal Champion, who was there to ask his mandatory question "Who's next?". Since then, the match has been made official for WrestleMania 36.

Yes, Roman Reigns is indeed next in line to challenge for the Universal Championship and the clash between these two powerhouses has WrestleMania written all over it, which would ideally end with the Big Dog claiming his yard back.

#5 Goldberg won't be around after WrestleMania season

One of the biggest reasons why many didn't expect Goldberg to defeat The Fiend at Super ShowDown to win the Universal Championship was because he is just a part-timer who is used by the company as a special attraction for their major shows. But with this being WrestleMania season, WWE put the title on him to set up a big WrestleMania match.

But what about after WrestleMania season? There's no way the Hall of Famer will stick around after the Show of Shows. He's not getting younger with time for sure, and hence it's almost guaranteed that he'll be dropping the title to the Roman Reigns. We can't have a part-timer holding the title for too long, can we?

Maybe he'll then be back for the next Saudi Arabia megaevent or Summerslam, perhaps.

#4 Roman Reigns hasn't won any title since his return

Ever since his return to WWE around a year ago, Roman Reigns has been kept away from the World title due to multiple reasons. Firstly, WWE realized that if they need to keep him a cheered babyface, they need to keep him out of the title scene for a good amount of time.

Secondly, having him challenge either Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship or Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship later would have ended up with the fans turning on him. Reigns winning the title by defeating someone like Goldberg will be a better decision than having him defeat either of the two above.

With this being his first attempt at challenging for the Universal title since his return, which in the first place if you remember he never lost but relinquished due to the unfortunate return of his Leukemia, the chances of him failing are considerably low.

We have previously seen him challenge for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34 and lose against the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar there, but this time, things seem to be in his favor.

#3 Passing the torch in the Battle of the Spears

There have been many "Passing the Torch" matches and moments in WWE's rich history, and this match between Roman Reigns and Goldberg ideally falls in the same category. And what better place to do that than at the Grandest Stage of them All!

The Battle of Spears, as the Internet Wrestling Community likes to call it, is going to be a grand affair. Both the Superstars involved have been true powerhouses who are known to overcome every possible obstacle on their path. While Goldberg is known for his exceptional 173-0 streak, Reigns is the face of the modern WWE, having main evented four WrestleManias in a row.

A clash between the sheer dominating aura of Goldberg and the fearless aggression of the Big Dog is sure to provide for a spectacle of a moment. The match in itself might not be a technical masterpiece and would end up being a usual near-5-minute high-intensity Goldberg match, with the Hall of Famer taking the pin for the successor of the Spear, Roman Reigns.

#2 About time Roman claims his main event spot back

Despite a section of WWE Universe not approving of the same, Roman Reigns is one of the biggest Superstars of the company with a global reach and fan-following, unlike anyone else. It makes perfect sense for the company to want him to win one of their two World titles at their biggest show of the year.

Since relinquishing his Universal title in October 2018, Reigns has been out of the main-event spot. With a victory over Goldberg at WrestleMania 36, his story with the Universal Championship comes full circle since having to give it away in an unfortunate manner.

Roman Reigns is a big match player and has the experience of being the company's top guy. This has been argued many times before, and it is indeed the truth that with the title being on him, WWE is sure to value the championship much more and book it properly.

It is about time the Big Dog claims back his spot at the top of the main roster! I'm not necessarily a Reigns fan myself, but that's what is "Best for Business".

#1 The sole purpose to put the title on Goldberg is to put over Reigns

Let's be honest here, WWE didn't let Goldberg defeat Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship at Super ShowDown to bury him or because a 50-year-old veteran and Hall of Famer needed another run with the title. The entire thing was set up to have him clash with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36. Though I strongly believe they could have done the same without the title as well, but okay let's not go there again.

The point is that the only logical reason for WWE to put the title on Goldberg was to have Roman Reigns defeat him in the Battle of Spears and become the Universal Champion at the same time. Why else would they have Bray lose the title to Goldberg otherwise!

Goldberg defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36 won't make much sense, to be honest. If you sacrificed someone, make sure their sacrifice doesn't go in vain. Let's be realistic here, WWE won't let Goldberg beat two of their top Superstars in two straight matches, right?

The Road to WrestleMania has officially begun, are you ready?
