5 things that could happen when Goldberg and Drew McIntyre come face to face on WWE RAW

On RAW Legends Night, Drew McIntyre and Goldberg met in the middle of the ring, and it was made clear that these two powerhouses would clash at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

To give us a teaser of what the match will be like, Goldberg will be on RAW this week, and so will the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, thankfully recovering after suffering from COVID-19 not long ago.

#5 Drew McIntyre and Goldberg team up to take down The Miz and John Morrison

Goldberg was advertised to return on last week's episode of RAW, but it turned out to be Gillberg who showed up in his place instead. Of course, the WWE Universe was outraged and entertained in equal measure with the act. One has to assume that Goldberg was not amused by what happened, and he will want a measure of retribution against The Miz and John Morrison.

In a sense, it would be a cool moment for fans to see Drew McIntyre and Goldberg team up if this is the route that WWE wants to take this week. The Miz could eat a Claymore kick while John Morrison is the victim of a spear. Before the two gladiators face each other at the 2021 Royal Rumble, they could share a moment where they stand side-by-side.

It would make sense because it makes both men look strong before they head into battle this coming weekend, against one another in what should be a truly titanic clash.

#4 Goldberg is confronted by Drew McIntyre's friend Sheamus, who eats a spear

As Goldberg waits for Drew McIntyre to step up and face him, Sheamus may decide to crash the party and get in the legend's face, becoming the victim of a massive spear. Maybe Sheamus even eats a Jackhammer from Goldberg too, who has a point to prove ahead of his big Royal Rumble match against Drew McIntyre.

If Sheamus gets pummelled by Goldberg ahead of the match against Drew McIntyre, with the WWE Champion not coming to his aid, it may set the stage for a betrayal at long last. We know that we are headed towards a Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus match in the future, and it may be set up following this week's RAW.

For Sheamus to eat the spear would keep both men, i.e., Drew McIntyre and Goldberg looking strong ahead of their clash this weekend, which is exactly what the doctor ordered, isn't it? In a sense, the contest feels special because we can't figure out the outcome.

Rumors had emerged that Goldberg would only return to put Drew McIntyre over, but the fact of the matter is that while that could certainly be a possibility, he is 'almost a lock for WrestleMania'. For Goldberg to remain a draw at the Royal Rumble and also at WrestleMania, he may need to take Drew McIntyre down at the pay-per-view.

We know that WWE usually likes to showcase the man who is going over as the weak link before the big match, which is why Goldberg may eat a Claymore from Drew McIntyre in the go-home show. And Goldberg could get his big win back at the Royal Rumble. Maybe the two men meet again at WrestleMania, where Drew McIntyre finally wins back his WWE Championship before a packed but socially distanced crowd.

This is because the company may give the impression that Drew McIntyre, for all his skill and strength, is no match for Goldberg. Because most people know that Goldberg is very limited in in-ring ability, the company needs to create a compelling case for the audience to tune in and watch the Royal Rumble.

Every match needs a babyface and a heel, and we could even see a temporary heel turn from Goldberg, in a sense, when he catches Drew McIntyre unaware by hitting him with a spear.

Even though both Drew McIntyre and the WCW icon are babyfaces, per se, the audience is generally a lot more antagonistic towards Goldberg because they believe that he takes spots away from the active roster, making him the heel by default. Goldberg could maybe embrace the hatred that comes his way and catch McIntyre unaware, hitting him with a spear.
