5 things that could happen at SmackDown after Extreme Rules - Top Superstar challenges Kingston for the WWE Title, Shane McMahon gets confronted?

The RAW after Extreme Rules saw Seth Rollins winning a 10-man Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

It was only a night before that that Rollins lost his title to the Beast Incarnate. Also, it was only four months ago that Rollins took on Lesnar in almost exactly a similar situation at WrestleMania, so having them pit against each other again is becoming highly repetitive now.

But that is what happened on RAW. SmackDown, meanwhile, promises to be a good show itself as they have already made some pre-show announcements on the official website.

The Kabuki Warriors are set to face the IIconics for the Women’s Tag Team Titles on SmackDown Live. Ember Moon, meanwhile, is touted to lock horns alongside a mystery partner against Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

#5 Shane McMahon getting confronted

Could this happen?

The general theme against Shane McMahon now is that he is taking up too much TV time when some really good talents at the back could have been used instead. Kevin Owens has become the voice of the WWE Universe as he has constantly berated Shane O'Mac for him hogging the limelight.

On SmackDown Live after Extreme Rules, we could see a host of other Superstars join Kevin Owens and express their dissatisfaction at the self-proclaimed Best in the World.

And given that Shane O'Mac is a power-abusing heel right now, he might make those stars regret opening up against him and questioning his authority.

Or, Kevin Owens could galvanize the rest of the Superstars into revolting against McMahon, which ultimately leads to their SummerSlam Lumberjack match with a stipulation where the loser leaves WWE TV for good.

#4 New Day 5th anniversary party

Showered with gold

I expected this to take place on RAW because it was precisely the anniversary day. However, it seems as though WWE are slowly moving towards the Brand Split again, as things are not as haphazard as before.

Since the New Day didn’t get to celebrate on RAW, it is almost certain that we would see them throwing pancakes while Xavier Woods plays the trombone. Also, Woods and E won their Tag Titles from Daniel Bryan and Rowan while Kingston, too, won his WWE Title from Bryan.

As a result, should Bryan make a promo about wanting to fight Kingston for the WWE Championship, New Day could come out and interrupt Bryan’s announcement to poke fun at his repeated failures.

This could setup a winner takes all match at SummerSlam with both the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and the WWE Championship on the line between New Day and the team of Bryan, Rowan and, maybe, Harper.

#3 Aleister Black vs Cesaro continues

These two were brilliant

This would be my personal favorite should it happen. When it was announced Cesaro take on the Dutch Destroyer at WWE Extreme Rules, fans were excited by the prospect that it promised.

In end, at the PPV, the match lived up to the expectations as the duo were simply fantastic in their match. The in-ring chemistry that these two displayed made us feel like they have been working for eons and I, personally, want to see more of it.

While pro-wrestling is mainly about story-telling, sometimes in-ring action should take the forefront. With a potential Black vs Cesaro, we could see just that as these two are guaranteed to produce A-plus matches.

Also, a long-term feud between the two benefits both of them as Black’s character depth could rub off on Cesaro while the Swiss Cyborg’s in-ring ability could bring the best out of the Dutch Destroyer.

#2 Daniel Bryan announces his intention to win the WWE Championship

Bryan to make an announcement

The other revelation that WWE has made prior to the SmackDown Live episode is that Daniel Bryan is set to make an announcement. According to their website, Bryan has promised to change the landscape of SmackDown Live by “aiming higher”.

The statement read: “In the aftermath of the interview, WWE.com has learned that Bryan plans on making a career-altering announcement tonight on SmackDown LIVE. Bryan has promised that this will change the course of his career and shake SmackDown LIVE to its core.”

Aiming higher and looking to move the blue brand to its core… what could this mean? In my mind, it seems as though Daniel Bryan is set to move forward and challenge Kingston for the WWE Championship after losing two successive titles – the WWE Championship and SmackDown Tag Team Titles – to New Day members.

#1 The Fiend attacks

Could we see this against Reigns?

Bray Wyatt has been teasing his return ever since the first episode of Firefly Fun House aired on RAW after WrestleMania. After weeks of strong promos, Wyatt took a step further as his toys were seen stalking WWE Superstar prior to Extreme Rules.

Some expected him to show up at the PPV but it didn’t happen. Instead, in the very next episode of RAW, Wyatt made his presence felt as he took down Finn Balor in the darkness and then gave him a Sister Abigail in the light to completely reveal his return.

The interesting part was Corey Graves mentioning how Bray Wyatt was there to torment the WWE Superstars from now on, hinting at the Fiend taking on random Superstars to make a statement.

As a result, it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that Wyatt could attack some Superstars on SmackDown next. Who knows, he could maybe even attack Roman Reigns to start their next big feud.
