5 things WWE subtly told us on the RAW after Extreme Rules (15th June, 2019)

The WWE RAW after Extreme Rules was quite a solid episode. Last week was undoubtedly a weak one but many speculated that this episode was 100% Paul Heyman through and through.

And to WWE's credit, they did a great job with RAW this week. Whether or not it was run by Heyman, there was a clear sense of freshness to the programming and minus the Women's Fatal-4-Way match, nothing felt forced and nothing felt overly dragged out.

The show ended with a really good battle royale that would crown Brock Lesnar's next opponent. With the winner, the SummerSlam main event is now official.

The first seeds were planted for SummerSlam and as of this writing, we now know two marquee matches for the biggest party of the summer in Toronto next month. Here are a few things WWE subtly told us on RAW!

#5. Ricochet and AJ Styles' rivalry is far from over

As expected, the AJ Styles and Ricochet feud continued on RAW. Ricochet was successful in a 2-out-of-3 falls match where he teamed up with The Usos to take on Robert Roode and The Revival.

After the match, he was met by AJ Styles and Gallows & Anderson, receiving a major post-match beatdown. He did interject in Styles and The Club's match later in the night, clearly indicating that he's still the defacto #1 contender for the United States Championship.

We're glad to see that this rivalry is far from over. There's so much potential in this feud and it's going to be extremely exciting to see how it all plays out at SummerSlam. Hopefully, it ends with AJ Styles putting over Ricochet as the next big star.

Things are getting interesting and hopefully Styles does to Ricochet what John Cena did to him.

#4. The Miz is going to feud with Dolph Ziggler

The Miz is set to renew his 2016 rivalry against Dolph Ziggler, with the roles reversed this time around. The Miz is the babyface while Dolph Ziggler is the heel. The dynamic was interesting back then but now it's interesting to see how different it is.

Dolph Ziggler essentially trashed post-face turn Miz for being soft, becoming everything that he hated and becoming a typical company "Yes man". Given The Miz's track record post-face turn, Ziggler does actually have a point.

But then again, it is Dolph Ziggler and it all ends with him looking up on the ceiling as he eats a pin. On RAW, Ziggler took it too far when he not only constantly took shots at The Miz, but he took shots at Maryse as well.

We thought Ziggler would be written out but it seems like we have another SummerSlam match!

#3. The women's division is not at its strongest

First off, we have to mention that we weren't big fans of this Long Island crowd for RAW. They were generally disrespectful to the performers and showed it with "This is awful" chants during the Fatal-4-Way Elimination match.

Granted, we do agree that the match was bad and that it was far too long for its own good, but it's honestly a state of the WWE Women's division post-Ronda Rousey. The argument could be made that the SmackDown roster has quite a few really talented women who aren't being utilized, but it's clear that on the RAW side of things, Becky Lynch doesn't have many great challengers.

Sure, Natalya is a solid challenger, but she too simply feels like a filler feud for The Man. The match was indicative of the state that the women's division is currently in. Hopefully, it improves more.

#2. Bray Wyatt is out to "terrorize" WWE

It's happened. It's finally happened. After around 11 months or so, we've finally seen Bray Wyatt get inside a WWE ring. It's been a long time coming and fans wondered when we would see The Eater Of Worlds make his big return to the ring.

He took out Finn Balor, who had just lost to Samoa Joe (but cleared him from the ring). While it may seem like we are getting a Wyatt-Balor feud, that won't be the case. It was reported that Balor is taking time off as he requested it, so this was likely a way to write him off.

The commentators kept mentioning how Wyatt is there to terrorize WWE, which only means that he'll be going on a tear by attacking random superstars. We must add that his mask looks absolutely creepy and it's incredible.

#1. Seth Rollins and not Roman Reigns is the #1 guy in WWE

Ever since Roman Reigns announced that he had leukemia, WWE made a huge change in plans and not knowing when or if Roman Reigns would return, they went with the right choice and picked Seth Rollins to be the next top star in WWE.

He defeated Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 and that seemed to be his coronation, but Lesnar won it back at Extreme Rules after his MITB cash-in.

Since Shane McMahon did away with automatic rematches, Seth Rollins had to earn his spot. One thing that WWE unintentionally made clear is that Seth Rollins has replaced Roman Reigns as WWE's #1 full time star.

It's possible that knowing Reigns has a limited window, they won't be pushing him as much (though a few more world title runs can be expected). Perhaps he will be in an important role but not the main one. It seems as though he already has an exit strategy down the line with Hollywood.
