Over the years, there have been many exciting high-flying tag teams all over the world. But sometimes what makes certain teams most memorable is when high flying becomes their trademark in their respective company.

In WWE's case, in the late 90s and early 2000s, the Hardy Boyz were the high-flying tag team in the company and it made for exciting television.

Their matches were very fast, full of excellent moves, and when they took part in ladder and TLC matches, they often stole the show with whoever they were wrestling. Other tag teams have come after them, and are performing both single and double-team moves with more twists and rotations than the Hardys did.

They have helped to revive tag team wrestling in the mainstream and inspire the next generation of tag specialists. In the years since, both brothers - together and apart in singles action - have had varying degrees of success in several companies and have worked through personal issues, but in 2016 proved their versatility and ability to remain relevant with a (relatively) late-career reinventing of themselves through the creativity and insanity of the "Broken" gimmick

The Hardys' legacy remains as one of the best and influential tag teams of all time. To this day, they are extreme.

#4 Edge and Christian

Edge & Christian were real life best friends and it showed in the ring. They really helped put tag team wrestling back on the map in the late 1990s early 2000s. They were the Bill and Ted of pro wrestling, and not only that, they took that type of duo and made it into one of the most entertaining heel acts ever.

Both men had excellent in-ring chemistry, were hilarious in their promos, and took legendary risks in ladder and TLC matches.

Despite being funny, they also played their roles as heels perfectly as well. Everyone wanted to see them lose the tag titles, and hated when they found some way to win them back. Edge and Christian along with the Hardys and the Dudleys made the very best tag period in the history of the buisness.

They went on to have very successful single runs in the main events but everyone missed their heel antics and wonderful chemistry that them a very accomplished tag team.

Many fans look upon their tenure as a tag team with fond nostalgia, aware of the many times they showed how much they reek of awesomeness. Edge & Christian were fantastic, one of the greatest teams ever and certainly the best of their time.

#3 The Hart Foundation

Most tag teams in wrestling, even today, comprise two (or more) guys with a similar style - the team of brawlers, the team of high flyers, whatever. But one of the best tag teams of all time broke that rule, pairing a technical grappler with a bruising powerhouse which became known as the Hart Foundation.

The Hart Foundation was started in 1985 when Bret Hart was turned heel and teamed with Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, who was being managed by "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. The Hart foundation may best be known for the continuing feud and incredible matches with The British Bulldogs.

The pair were a hit as a tough heel team. They won the World tag team championship twice in their run, and fought in some of the most memorable matches of the '80s. They had a lot of achievements that made them successful which included a good manager, color coordination, a good name and gimmick.

It's a type of chemistry that can only be formed by years of being around each other, training with each other, and forming a bond that can never be broken. Combine their incredible chemistry, wrestling ability, collaborative styles, and the adoration they received from fans worldwide, there's no reason why the Hart Foundation isn't the best there was and ever will be.

#2 The Dudley Boyz

The Dudley Boyz have wrestled in TNA as Team 3D

An iconic team with many great matches, aswell as tons of personality and history. Watching them nearly cause riots in ECW is a treasure, and the way they made a huge impact in WWE is also great.

A lot of their TNA work is high quality as well. Everywhere the Dudleys go, tag team gold is soon to follow, and for good reason. Bubba Ray and Devon are both capable brawlers and heat magnets on their own, but combine to form one of the all-time great tag teams.

Always can be counted on for good matches, often using their brawling and hardcore skills, and have been part of several classics, such as the TLC matches with the Hardyz and Edge & Christian.

Both men have also had degrees of success as singles, such that it now seems like a big deal when they come together as a team.

#1 The Road Warriors/Legion of Doom

The Road Warriors have wrestled in the AWA, WCW, WWE and WCW

What a Rush! One of the most iconic tag teams in the history of professional wrestling with their awesome gimmick and badass look. Alongside Road Warrior Animal, the duo were a top draw throughout the 1980s, revolutionized tag team wrestling and won many championships.

The duo tore through GCW and AWA before earning the NWA World and International Tag Titles (wrestling for both NWA and All Japan) and proved capable of drawing better houses than main event singles wrestlers.

The duo jumped to the WWE in 1990 and were eventually made the WWE world tag team champions.

They were larger then life. Just seeing them on TV gave you goose bumps. And whether they were heels or faces, they still were respected and enjoyed by fans all over. Their incredible finisher "The Doomsday Device" looked so devastating and amazing when they executed it. Hawk and Animal were individuals that made the 80's such an exciting moment in wrestling history.

Few other tag teams, if any, can say that they could replicate that kind of success. So while there have been many teams that, in more recent years, have amassed more titles and achievements, there hasn't been a team since the Road Warriors that can not only define bad ass in the way that they did, but that can also be so decorated in many different promotions with such different philosophies on professional wrestling.
