Roman Reigns with Shane and Vince McMahon

5 Unique ways Roman Reigns can become a fan favourite on SmackDown Live

In a surprising turn of events on SmackDown Live's Superstar Shakeup, Roman Reigns announced his arrival to the blue brand in style, attacking WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, as well as SmackDown's other big acquisition, Elias.

SmackDown is the B-brand in WWE as RAW takes precedence every week. Reigns moving to SmackDown means the red brand has lost its biggest star, which is a big loss considering his Shield brother Dean Ambrose, has also quit WWE and RAW.

WWE have moved Reigns to SmackDown to add some star power with the Fox deal to come in place later this year. But Reigns is no longer the Superstar that was loved and adored by the WWE Universe a few years ago.

He constantly gets booed at WWE shows, but WWE could possibly make fans love him again. Here, let's take a look at 5 unique ways Roman Reigns can become a fan favourite on SmackDown Live:

#1 Tweak his wrestling moves and a new finisher

A Roman Reigns match will not rank highly with the wrestling purists when it comes to actual in-ring work. Reigns go-to moves are the spear and the Superman Punch, and it's certain that the end is near for his opponents if he lands one or both these moves.

While both moves look great and adds great drama to any match, it's quite repetitive as Reigns hasn't changed any of his moves and evolved as a wrestler since he made his main roster debut.

While it would be difficult for him to perform the moves that smaller wrestlers like AJ Styles or Seth Rollins do week in, week out on WWE television, it's perhaps time for Reigns to add a few more powerful signature moves to his arsenal.

#2 Feuds with hated heels

One way to get fans to cheer for Roman Reigns once again is by pitting him against a heel that is widely hated by WWE's rabid fans. SmackDown Live has a couple of heels that are widely hated by the WWE Universe.

The likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Elias, and former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, do get booed at WWE events, which could divert all the heat away from Reigns. Randy Orton is another Superstar that could feud against Reigns to get The Big Dog slowly back in the WWE Universe's favour, while Lars Sullivan, who has been called up from NXT, has a menacing look which could work well for him if he's a heel.

Reigns could get some sympathy if WWE decides to use a leukaemia angle, even though it may rub fans the wrong way.

A feud with a top heel on SmackDown Live could tilt the fans towards Reigns once more.

#3 Lead a babyface stable

The Shield no longer exists with the departure of Dean Ambrose from WWE, and there's a huge void to fill as WWE has very few dominant stables currently.

One way WWE can get Roman Reigns over with the fans is for Reigns to lead a babyface stable. The likes of Finn Balor, Hardy Boyz, Kevin Owens and The New Day are loved by the WWE Universe, and a stable involving a few of these Superstars with Reigns could, in the long run, get The Big Dog back in the favour of fans.

We could perhaps see Reigns help the others in the stable win titles, putting them ahead of himself which would please fans as the one gripe they have had with Reigns' lately is that WWE have tried to push him down the throats of WWE fans.

#4 Win over the fans organically

Two of the most popular Superstars currently in the WWE, Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston, have won over the fans, who eventually pushed the WWE to give them title opportunities which they won at WrestleMania 35.

Both Superstars were popular with the fans even before their push, but certain circumstances forced them to rise up the card, and a lot of it had to do with fan power.

The biggest gripe that WWE fans have with Roman Reigns is that he is being pushed despite them not approving of him. But there is also a large set of WWE fans that love Reigns, so all is not lost in the Reigns project.

WWE should build his character once again, have him be the one who talks trash, is sassy, and shows the fans the love. It is only a matter of time before fans love Reigns once again!

#5 More segments with Vince McMahon

One of the key personnel of the Attitude Era that helped WWE become one of the most important and loved entertainment shows was Vince McMahon. Some regard the WWE Chairman to be the greatest heel as his run-ins with Stone Cold Steve Austin made the Attitude Era.

McMahon wasn't seen on WWE television for a while before he returned last year. Since then, he's been a permanent fixture, appearing once every few weeks. And in the run-up to WrestleMania 35, the WWE Chairman was involved in two blockbuster feuds - firstly getting involved in the feud between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, as he suspended Becky and replaced her with Charlotte Flair.

He then had a huge part to play in Kofi Kingston's run before 'Mania, giving Kofi even more momentum with his heelish ways.

More segments between Vince McMahon and Roman Reigns like the one last week on SmackDown Live, will only help Reigns become even more popular with the fans. Heel McMahon always makes for great viewing.
