5 unknown facts you may not know about WWE superstar Zelina Vega

Ever since his move to the main roster, former NXT champion Andrade "Cien" Almas has impressed everyone with his in-ring skills as he put up two great matches with WWE Champion AJ Styles and Rusev over the last two weeks. There were reports that the officials backstage are high on him and he could be at the receiving end of a big push in the upcoming months.

All this seemed impossible for him a year and a half back when he was putting over wrestlers in NXT. Even then, he was very good inside the ring and was struggling with the mic in his hands. That's when he was accompanied by Zelina Vega (Thea Trinidad) and since then, he has been one of the bright spots in whichever brand he represented.

Zelina made a big difference for him and accompanied him to the main roster where there are hardly any managers for the "superstars who appear on a regular basis". Zelina is also a wrestler who wrestled under the ring name "Rosita" in TNA and other indy promotions. After taking part in a few singles matches in NXT, she could well make her main roster in-ring debut in the near future as there were indications for a possible feud between Zelina and Lana.

She was a part of Adam Rose's Rosebuds

Many might have forgotten one-fourth of the faction "Social Outcasts", Adam Rose. Rose didn't accomplish much when he was in the WWE and was accompanied to the ring by a group of enthusiastic party-goers known as the Rosebuds.

This group of revelers would support Rose and eventually catch him as in his leap of faith, before dancing off into the night. Most of the wrestlers who are successful today were a part of the famous Adam Rose's Rosebuds.

The list of wrestlers includes former ROH superstar and the man behind Chris Jericho's List of Jericho, Jimmy Jacobs, Simon Gotch, Elias, former WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Becky Lynch, the current WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Carmella, WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, former WWE US Champion Kalisto, James Ellsworth, Mr.Monster in the Bank Braun Strowman etc.

Thea Trinidad was also occasionally a part of the group when she made it to a tryout in WWE.

She is the cousin of pro-wrestler Amazing Red

Thea Trinidad is not the only wrestler to emerge from her family. Her cousin brother Jonathan Figueroa is also a pro-wrestler and has been a part of various independent promotions like Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Ring of Honor (ROH), All Japan Pro Wrestling among others under various ring names out of which he can be associated the best as Amazing Red.

Red has won the TNA X Division Championship thrice apart from winning various singles championships across promotions. He is also a veteran in the tag team division as he has won the NWA World Tag Team Championship with former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) superstar Jerry Lynn, ROH World Tag Team Championship title with WWE champion AJ Styles.

Incidentally, Red has his other cousins in the Pro Wrestling business as well. The Spanish Announce Team or Los Maximos (Joel Maximo and Wil Maximo) are the cousins of Red and they don't have any connection with Thea.

Her father was a victim of 9/11 attacks

On the 11th of September 2001, a terror attack struck New York and as many as 2996 innocent people fell prey to it and over 6000 people were injured.

One of those 2996 people who lost their lives was Michael, Thea's dad. He was working on the 103rd floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower when the attacks took place and unfortunately lost his life.

When she was performing in a WWE Live event as a part of the Rosebuds at the Madison Square Garden (MSG) and Wildwood, NJ in 2014, Thea got emotional and in an interview with Brooklyn eagles, she paid homage to her dad.

She said, "my dad was a wrestler in high school. He was really good and had a great amateur background, but it was always his dream to be in the WWE. When I got to MSG, I had to look around and just take it in. I talked to him in the locker room and, of course, I cried. I really felt like it was not a coincidence that I was performing at these two venues. I was like, 'He's up to something. I told myself, ‘I’m going to do this for me, but also for him."

She portrayed AJ Lee in The Rock's movie on Paige

Everyone must be aware of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's biopic on former WWE Divas champion and the current General Manager of SmackDown Live, Paige titled "Fighting With My Family".

The movie is based on the Bevis family in England, which includes Paige, her father Ricky Knight, who is also a wrestler and a promoter, her mother and wrestler Sweet Saraya Knight and her brothers.

The movie will also be depicting Paige's WWE Divas Championship win over AJ Lee on her main roster debut. Portraying the role of AJ Lee will be Thea Trinidad and it has been confirmed that Thea, along with the on-screen Paige, Florence Pugh, shot the sequence for the above-mentioned match at the Staples Center in Los Angles following the February 20, 2017 episode of WWE Raw.

She was dating Austin Aries in the past

Thea had been dating former WWE 205 live and NXT superstar Austin Aries in the past and at present, it appears like the duo has split up and one can say that they are still in good terms. It was pretty evident from the tweet posted by Aries after Thea's main roster debut

When Thea made her debut on SmackDown Live along with Andrade Cien Almas, Aries took to Twitter to comment on the debut and congratulated her on her big moment. He commented, "Congrats to my ex-girlfriend @Zelina_VegaWWE on her #SmackDownLive debut. I know firsthand all the time, effort, and sacrifice that went into making this special dream a reality."
