5 Ways WWE could stun the fans on Raw and SmackDown this week

In the past few weeks, WWE has been trying to break away from the norm and introduce some different aspects and angles in storylines to make them more interesting and entertaining for the fans. This could be a direct result of having Paul Heyman take the reins of Raw while giving the reins of SmackDown to Eric Bishoff.

In the past few weeks, we have seen Bray Wyatt’s new character disturb many legendary superstars’ minds and also lay out Finn Balor. On the other hand, a mystery storyline involving Roman Reigns has kept fans active on social media as they try to figure out who his mystery attacker could be.

Amid all this, there are many ways WWE could continue to stun their fans and keep them glued to their screens on Raw and SmackDown this week. In this article, we will look at 5 such ways and how they could impact the storylines and superstars going forward.

#5 Make Kevin Owens the champion

Kevin Owens is set to take on Elias in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament. While their focus will be on the bigger prize, which is to be crowned the King of the Ring, the two men have much more to battle over at this point.

Elias has been on Shane McMahon’s side since moving to SmackDown Live, and could well receive some benefits for his services to the authority.

However, Elias is currently also holding the 24/7 Championship, which he won after pinning R-Truth. This could give Kevin Owens an added advantage and focus, as he’d want to not only defeat Elias to progress in the tournament, but also take away the title from him.

WWE could make the game for the 24/7 Championship more interesting by allowed Owens to deliver a stunner to Elias and pin him to progress in the tournament and then stunning The Drifter again to strip him off his championship belt.

Owens could add much more flavor and entertainment to the 24/7 Championship drama as compared to Elias.

#4 The Boss n Hug Connection return

WWE could shake up the women's division with these two together again

Before Sasha Banks went completely out of action, she was the Women’s Tag Team Champion with Bayley.

While Bayley stuck around and went on to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Banks went on a long break to refresh and recharge. Now that Banks is back, she has made her intentions crystal clear and she will compete for the Raw Women’s Championship sooner than later.

The creative team now has a chance to stun the fans and also bring back the Boss n Hug Connection, giving them a new gimmick. As a face and heel team, the two friends could decide to go after both the major singles titles and also the women’s tag team championships in a quest to take over all the gold.

We’ve already seen Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross overcome The IIconics and Kabuki Warriors, and the Boss n Hug Connection could prove to be their biggest threat.

#3 Reveal Harper as Roman Reigns’ attacker

Harper has been silently waiting on the sidelines

For the past few weeks, SmackDown has largely revolved around The Big Dog and his mystery attacker. While fans believed that Buddy Murphy was responsible for the attacks on Roman Reigns, Murphy revealed that it was Rowan who attacked the former Universal Champion.

While fans believed that the case was already closed, last week’s SmackDown revealed a new angle as Murphy admitted that he lied to Reigns and took Rowan’s name.

This week on SmackDown, we are expecting Daniel Bryan and Rowan to reveal the name of Reigns’ actual attacker, and one name that could stun the fans is that of Harper.

Rowan’s former partner Harper has been off television for a long time now and even asked for his release from the company earlier this year. However, his request was rejected and Harper has been traveling with the rest of the roster as of late.

WWE has added six months to his contract to cover up the time he was off due to an injury, and he could be revealed as Reigns’ attacker to give him a new feud at the top.

This would allow Reigns to get some major wins over a mammoth superstar who is already expected to leave the company soon, and his name will also make sense considering he was Rowan’s partner for a long time.

#2 Bray Wyatt targets the King of the Ring tournament

With The Fiend on the lose, the ring is not a safe place for the superstars

Bray Wyatt’s debut as The Fiend turned out to be as good as most fans would have expected it to be. He took out Finn Balor, who is now not even part of the King of the Ring tournament, which could mean he will be taking some time off from the ring.

Similarly, Wyatt has also not been made a part of the tournament, but the threat of The Fiend wanting to play a role is imminent.

Fans are desperate to watch The Fiend go against Aleister Black, but that feud has WrestleMania written all over it. Therefore, Wyatt should now search for his victims from the pool of King of the Ring candidates.

Wyatt could stun a superstar after his win in one of the eight matches this week, and then continue to haunt them which would result in them losing focus and losing either during the quarter-final or semi-final stage.

This would end up giving The Fiend a challenger for the Clash of Champions pay-per-view when The Fiend could feed off his victim’s fears.

#1 Begin a new rivalry for the Universal Championship

Turning Strowman heel at this point seems like the best idea

While there are way too many superstars in the middle of the card who are waiting to get their hands on a championship belt, there are very few on top who are in contention for the Universal Championship.

With Drew McIntyre still waiting for his turn to move to the top and Bobby Lashley currently inactive, this leaves the door ajar for the Monster Among Men Braun Strowman.

Strowman is set to take on AJ Styles for the United States Championship this week, and this could result in him winning his first major singles title in the company.

However, WWE could spice things up in the championship department by putting Seth Rollins on Strowman’s side for the clash, and having him interfere in some way to help Strowman that ultimately costs Strowman the match.

This would really surprise everyone and could turn Strowman heel which would result in him coming after Rollins and his championship.
